At what age should children not be wearing night nappys and not wetting the bed? My little one is 3 and a half but is still not staying dry through the night.

  1. It usually takes until about 5 or 6 years. It depends if they see a horror movie or not.

  2. Give im till he's 35 or so.

  3. It can last a while.  Some older kids have problems with bed wetting because of weak bladders.  If it hasn't gone away by the time they hit adolesence, you may want to take them to the doctor.

  4. My niece is 3 and half and been potty trained for over a year but still wears nappy at night, she stays dry 90% of the time. All kids are different so don't think there's a set age when they shouldn't need one. hope this helps!

  5. Mine too. Don't worry about it, it will happen when he/she is ready. If your child is completely dry every day it could be time to try at night. Put a small plastic sheet over the usual bed sheet and cover this plastic sheet with another small sheet(about the size of a cot sheet folded in half). If your child wets the sheet during the night you only have to change the smaller sheet, not the whole bed.

  6. I would give him at least another couple of years, if I were you.  My sisters and I wet our beds until we were around 8 years.  Probably, because we had an outside loo and too scared to get out of bed to use the po. Especially after sneeking into the kitchen to make and drink milkshakes just before going to bed when our parents were not looking. However, my mother used to always have a protective sheet between the mattress and the sheet and then she would get us to make our own beds by placing another smaller plastic sheet on top followed by another form of small flannel sheet.  What child wants to do have to do this everynight.  We soon stopped wetting our beds.  However, I had a brother who carried on into his teens - in his case, my parents had to seek medical advice in case of bladder problems or some other cause.  Wetting the bed at 8 never did me any harm, I stopped when I was ready. It meant extra washing for our mother but she used to get us to wash those little square sheets and plastic at weekends and school holidays. So I would say at 3 and a half you should not really worry but suggest you prepare his bed  or cot with protective mattress covering and ensure you child is not drinking more than he should before going to bed.

  7. my little boy was 3yrs and has been brilliant at it.some children are faster than others.

  8. There is no set age, all children are individual and will reach that stage at different times.  I know of many who still wet the bed at 5 or 6, even 8.  Others can be dry at night by 3 or 4.  Its no big deal if you don't make it one.  Just be relaxed about it, and patient.  Most importantly, never tell your child off for wetting the bed or make them feel bad about it.   But gives lots of praise for dry beds.  They may be inter mitten to start with.  Your little one will get there in the end.  It really doesn't matter when.

  9. Definately by 14 or 15,

  10. It varies.  Many children have bedwetting issues for years and its completely normal.  My son is almost 4 and doesn't always stay dry at night.  Just make sure you are limiting his fluid intake an hour or two before bed, he empties his bladder before bed and he may also need to get up in the middle of the night to urinate again.

  11. All children are different.  Is he making it to the bathroom through out the day?  If he has accidents he might not be ready yet.  Some kids will wet the bed up until puberty or beyond.  Try restricting fluid intact about an hour or two before bedtime and see if that helps.  If you are really worried I suggest talking to the doctor!!  Good luck!
