A friend of mine wants her fam and mine to go to Disney world when our kids are old enough but what age is good so that they will remember it?

And where else is a good place to go on vacation when your kids are young ?

  1. So they remember it?  We went several times when I was a kid and I don't remember much.  Yet, that was like 20 years ago.

I took my almost 2 year old (she was free at Disney World and on the plane) and my 6 year old.  Both of them love it.  Hopefully by the time the memory starts to fade a little for my older one, we'll go back.

  2. I took my 5yr old this yr & he loved it.  I noticed a lot of younger children there 2 whom all seemed to enjoy it.  Previously i have taken him to Dominican & Turkey, to a hotel which is very child orientated ie kids clubs, water slides etc. xx

Oh & they have massive pushchairs 4 rent that 8 yr olds were using, get them in single & double.

  3. i went when i was seven or eight and it was sweet! lol

i remember most of my experience but id say wait for about 10 or 11 because when they can handle the walking, i recall being on my dad's shoulders walking around with a mickey mouse cap on =D. It was fun for me but not so much for him.

  4. I think 6 to 8 are the perfect ages to go to disney. I used to live in Florida and have been there (too) many times. I feel sorry for the parents who still have toddlers and infants. They just look miserable and the kids can not go on many of the rides. Usually one parent has to stay with the children who can not ride because they are not tall enough or it is just not an appropriate ride for them. Plus, a child of 3 or 4 will hardly remember it and spending that much money.......you want them to remember it! Have fun!

  5. The whole "your kids won't remember" excuse is a big pet peeve of mine. If kids don't remember stuff before a certain age, why bother doing anything with them at all since they won't remember it anyway?

You can take kids at any age. Whether or not they remember is irrelevant. They'll still have fun and it will be an experience for them. If they are very young and may not remember, just take lots of pictures & videos, and talk to them about the experience after the trip to keep it fresh in their minds.

The only things you need to consider with kids are height restrictions for rides and whether or not you want to cart a stroller around. Most kids past the age of 5 can ride on most of the rides. We plan to take our kids to WDW when they're 5 or 6.

  7. I've been to Disney World twice. I went once when I was four, with my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and my cousin. I remember parts of it, and I remember that I had a blast (except for the fireworks, too loud) but a lot of it is a blur.

I went again the summer before the sixth grade (I think that would have made me 11?). I remember that trip a lot better, and I was able to do a lot more, but there are still parts that are a little fuzzy (and I'm only 17, so it isn't as if it were all that long ago).

I'd really like to go again, now that I'm a little older, and hopefully my memories won't be leaving me as easily.

I'm not sure where you are, so I can't really give you any specific places to go in the meantime, but when I was younger (and actually, we still do this now) we would go on camping trips (we weren't roughing it or anything, After the first four years we actually bought a camper, it was more just about being together somewhere, and it's cheaper than a hotel).

We always have a great time, and if you do a little research before hand, you can usually find fun places to go that are near wherever you're camping.

  8. I've taken my 2 year old and seven year old to disney and they loved it. Though they got very cranky about midday- due to the fact they were tired and hot. They also enjoyed Elmo Landd in PA. That was great. Oh and zoos are great learning experiences.
