  1. At any age the child is bigger than the mower.

  2. 12.......I think at this age they are strong enough to start and push the mower.

  3. I think 13 or 14 is a good age. My 14 year old has always loved doing yard work and she recently cut the grass for the first time.

  4. In my mind there is a difference between teaching the child and actually having them do it. Most 5-6 year old boys would LOVE to learn to mow the lawn and while it is way to young to make them do it it would be fine to let them help out for fun. I would say around 13 for actually making it the child's job

  5. i would have to say atleast 13 or 14 but if they do not do well at first dont push them to do harder to much because I know an old neighbor of mine who  did that to his son and pushed him and pushed him and this boy was only 11 but he thought he should be doing it not the dad and eventually after his dad pushing him to go faster and do better they boy got so frustrated and had it going very fast and went on a hill that was too steep for him but his father made him do it and it flipped over on him and then rolled and he fell off and the blade was still on... he broke his leg and arm and part of his shoulder was cut off by the blade. So a word of advice. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

  6. Lawn mowers are quite dangerous, I would hate for an accident to happen...but thats the thing accidents happen, even to adults. I think the best age would be 10 or 11. Their still children but a certain level of maturity & ability has hopefully set in by then, so I believe you can start teaching them how to do potentially dangerous things like mowing the lawn, cooking (lighting the oven, cutting vegtables etc..)

  7. Soon as they can walk I hate free loaders

  8. I'd begin teaching them at about 12, if they were tall enough and strong enough to push it. If we have a rider they can't do that until 15/16.

  9. Funny you ask this cause my husband and I were just discussing this.  We think our son will be able to help with the lawn at 10 years old.  We have friend with a son who is 10 who mows the lawn just fine as a chore.

And if you only made your kids do things they wanted to do then they would never do anything.

  10. 13 maybe but only if they wanted to do it, some like to mow lawns for some extra cash which is ok but they should at least be 13 or older.
