  1. Those are classic signs of teething. I would bet that, at this point, his crankiness is caused by that...not by a growth spurt.

My daughter had her biggest spurt to date in her 3rd month, and she's gearing up for another. She's hungry all the time, and sleeping a lot. Good luck.

  2. 3-4 months i know for sure cause mt friends baby didnt really eat much till 3 months n she was eating alot

  3. Babies are constantly growing...a growth spurt can happen at any given time.

Gums swollen - definitely sounds like teething! Try the natural teething tablets that dissolve instantly in their mouths..they work much better than baby orajel!

You can get them at Wal-Mart or any pharmacy.

I also recommend getting some teething toys/rings!  The kind you can put in the freezer are great, something about the cold makes their gums feel better as they chew on them. The Gerber or Beechnut Biter Biscuits are great - messy but I bet your baby will love them! Zwieback Toast was a favorite of my sons as well!

Also, you may want to consult your pediatrician on what types (if any) of baby pain releiver/fever reducer they would recommend for your baby...Sometimes teething can cause not only discomfort for baby but also low grade temperatures and earaches....just to prepare you. My son not only drooled a lot but when he did drool a lot he usually ended up with dhiareah for that day...I would also advise asking your pediatrician about this as well (my sons was severe and had to take meds to normalize his bowel movements again after that....a few times).

*****Constipated? Have you noticed any change when performing the 'diaper duty'?....The applesauce should help keep him from being constipated...but a gassy belly could be from a number of different things...maybe too much applesauce? My son had a 'sensitive' belly...anytime he was teething then his belly got upset...anytime he had a temper tantrum (upset belly),...anytime he fought sleep(upset belly),...you name it - it seemed like my son got gas due to something...lol...the gas drops do help, but sometimes nothing really helps and you just have to let things run their course....

  4. Sounds like a teething issue.  Try putting a wet washcloth in the freezer and then letting him chew on it.  If all else fails, a little baby tylenol will give you, and him, a few hours of relief.

For interest sakes, growth spurts generally (but not always) occur at 7-10 days old, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, and 6 months.  toddlers also go through growth spurts but not at any real specific time line.  Eating lots, and then sleeping lots are good signs of a growth spurt.

  5. 3 weeks 6 weeks and anytime they feel like it after that!!! I got a 18pd 4 mth old!  He is probably teething.  Wet a facecloth and stick it in the freezer, then give to your son and he will do the rest.  Leave some of the facecloth dry so he can hold that part.  Should help the swollen gums!  It could also be indigestion from the food, but I dont think that he would be constipated from applesauce.  Maybe a tummy ache.  Warm baths can help with tummy aches.  Babies tend to sleep more when teething sothat is probably it.  If he doesnt feel better soon then ask you doc!

  6. teething is what it sounds like. try giving him a bottle of ice water. he will be relieved by the icy water and chew on the nipple. you can also use tylenol on the bad days or before bed to make him more comfy. just make sure he has lots of teething toys to chew on to keep him busy.
