  1. Tet is on 18 Feb 2007. If you plan to come, make sure that you will come at least a week before, and you should expect that after-tet period will be a very uncrowded period - people seems disappear :p

  2. This coming Tết, lunar year 4705, year of the Pig (or the Boar as some prefer), falls on Sunday, the 18th of February, 2007.

The official holidays are the 1st, 2nd & 3rd of the Lunar New Year.

The "Xuân" (Spring) atmostphere, however, is celebrated past "Rằm tháng Giêng" (the15th of January on lunar calendar), on which time, the Vietnamese crowd the many Buddhist & Confucius temples making religious offerings & enjoying Spring festivities.

  3. February 18, 2007. Officially there are 4 days of public holidays.

However the Vietnamese may sometimes take 2 weeks vacation during this period.

Preparation for Tet begins 1 month before the date with activitis intensifying the week before.

  4. hey it's me JM - i can't send you a mail so i have to post it here

if you come visiting vietnam in that period, that'll be nice because you can see people preparing for the biggest holiday in year. and there might be some parties or something like that hold whereabouts in the cities.

about the flight, it might be a bit more difficult because there'll have vietnamese people from other countries come back to the homeland, but i don;t think it's a big prob (thousands of tourists still can come anyway)

hope you will soon arrange the trip and enjoy travelling to vietnam.

    regards,

    JM
