At what distance can generation 3 night vision binoculors see?

I have heard it was 1200 feet. Is that accurate?

"distance" has nothing to do with it.  You can see 2.5 million light years with your naked eyes if you look up toward the andromeda galaxy.  With night vision binoculars, you can surely see other galaxies, such as m33 and more, which are even further away.  The real question is how much the binoculars amplify the light.  Gen 3 binos do a pretty good job at making a standard night scene look like daytime.  You can see pretty much "as far" as you would during daytime with binoculars.  Gen 3 binos are, however, grainy and noisy--meaning it looks like looking at an older black and white TV screen with some static.  If that doesn't bother you, then great.  You will see slightly less detail due to the grain and noise, and therefore not be able to see quite as "far" as you would during daytime.  But otherwise the view is pretty incredible and you see things at all distances.  your distance is only limited by the size and brightness of the object you're looking at.
