  1. The partial lunar eclipse is the morning of Aug-17 in Melborne. Penumbral eclipse begins at 04:25, partial eclipse begins at 05:36, mid eclipse with 81% of the Moon covered is at 07:10, just after the Moon has set in Melborne. Partial eclipse ends at 08:44 and penumbral eclipse ends at 09:55, but of course those phases cannot be seen from Melborne.

  2. Hi Melbourne!

You'll see the partial eclipse Sunday morning the 17th in Australia.

The partial eclipse starts for you at 5:36 a.m. Australian Eastern Time, just about first light in Victoria.

As the eclipse advances, the sky brightens while the moon is moving down toward moonset.   About ten minutes before mid-eclipse, the sun comes up and the moon sets, at 7:04 a.m. AET.

Those watching in the Central and Western time zones will get to see mid-eclipse and the earth's shadow starting to draw away from the lunar disc, but in the east the moon sets before the middle of the eclipse.

And a lunar eclipse will have no greater effect on your baby than looking out the window at the full moon and stepping away from the window would.
