I still see people idling their vehicles while going into the bank or store. I can't afford that, but I guess some can.

  1. We moved into town. We used to live 15 miles away in a rural area and there were days when we'd have to make the trip into town 2 and 3 times a day.  My husband and were spending $400+ a month on gas just to go to work everyday.  Since we moved we now spend about $100-$125 p/mo.

  2. Most people never will.  They will drive their cars even if they can't afford it.  For some driving is necessity, but for many it is convenience, status or laziness that compels them to drive as opposed to using public transportation, biking or walking.  I live in Philadelphia, where the public transportation system is extensive enough that there is hardly a need for most people in the city to own a car (especially not with Philly car share, flex-car, etc.).  Driving is a traffic filled hassle and parking is really expensive, but most people I know who live in or near the city with easy access to train, trolley or bus routes still commute by car most days.  Worse yet, many of them own SUVs.  The American sense of entitlement will cause most people to drive long after they can afford it.

  3. My habits are slightly affected already....

  4. People will never quit driving their cars or trucks until this fine country hits the bottom. It is so sad to even think this, but NO ONE ever bans together to accomplish anything that is for the good of the people. You would be surprised to know how many responses I have had on a thought of a way to reduce the cost of fuel at the pumps. VERY FEW!!! Americans do not make up their own minds the MEDIA is what changes peoples minds. The question is how do we get the MEDIA  to say something AS SIMPLE AS THIS LITTLE IDEA.  ...........................................               I  am in favor of boycott of purchasing fuel from one brand of fuel for a number of set days and when that station lowers its fuel price move to another brand and do the same . I know this would work if the people in this country could only band together. Four days at a time I think would really put a hurt on their pockets. When asked why would this work? Look at how we have arrived at the price of fuel today. The price goes up at one station then back down at the next and never stays there for long and of course it also never returns to the starting price. I said back when it first started doing this that it would not stop until $4 a gallon. I might be wrong about the $4 part!!

Please don't blame this on our President. We are in a free society and it is nothing but corporate greed not to mention (US) stockholders that want huge profits for OUR investments. Rising fuel costs are crippling our country. I will not begin to state any of the ways. You have a mind and know it to be a fact.

With that said. Okay lets look at whatelse a station sells besides fuel. Drinks, ciggs, snacks ,food and everything else. Look at it from a business stand point. They may not make much on the fuel that is sold. So if no one purchases fuel they will not be there to buy the things they really make huge profits on. HOW SIMPLE CAN THIS BE?????

  5. People will stop driving when they don't have money to buy clothes

  6. Well, a few weeks ago when gas went up to $3.50 a gallon, i SAID i'd quit driving to and from work and walk the 5 mile roundtrip a day, but I haven't  yet. At $4.00, maybe. Man, gas sucks. Why can't my car run on oatmeal or iced tea or something?
