At what level does radiation damage begin in the body?

My friends who work in the hospital talk about all the collateral damage that radiation does.  It makes peoples' kidneys and bladder turn into cooked meat.  But we will need another 100 years before we can get it completely right.  So we live with the imperfections.

I would say that the radiation damage begins with the first dose.  But so does the destruction of the cancer cells.

Excellent question, but sometimes it is one option that still needs to be used to fight for your life.

You can lose your b*****s, survive chemo therapy, and still need radiation.

It takes many weapons to combat cancer...we do what me must to survive because the alternative is death.

So we hope and pray for the best.  My wife will be going through radiation treatments and I am afraid.  God help those that need to be exposed to radiation in order to survive cancer.

It's unpredictable, varies from person to person.

I had the same experimentally large dose as another person in the same year. He was sick all the way through, I was fine.

I got problems later, he was fine.

By the way, the reaction that I had was very, very rare. And the tumor didn't come back.
