Using the formula

9/5=F-32/C

I know the answer is -40 degrees, I just can't figure out how to use the formula to get this.

Thanks in advance!

  1. using the formula is           c=(f-32)5/9. so we get the answer is

          -40 degree c.

  2. (F - 32) x 5/9 = C

    F-32=c(9/5)

    F=C(9/5)+32

    (x-32)(5/9)=x(9/5)+32

    5/9x-160/9=9/5x+32

    -160/9-32=9/5x-5/9x

    -160/9-288/9=(81-25)/45x

    -448/9=56/45x

    (-448/9)(45/56)=x

    x=-40

  3. The standard formula is

    F=9/5C+32

    s******g around with that, it's a simple substitution where F=C (because that's what you're trying to find..the point where F value is equal to C value)

    Then you get C = 9/5C + 32 or F = 9/5F + 32

    Either way you get C (or F) = -40.

    Thanks for keeping my math skills sharp, bro.

  4. i do not know were u get your formula From and the answers does not seem right either i tried to substituted but i do not get the correct answer

    my way of tackling this problem is as follows  you have a formula but it looks like there is something wrong

    I f you take Celsius as starting point then 0 degrees c is freezing point and 100 degrees c is boiling point with Fahrenheit 32 degrees is freezing point and 212 degrees is boil point

    now you get 100 divisions Celsius is 180 divisions Fahrenheit therefore a 1division c is 1.8 div Fahrenheit. from this you get  c= 1.8(f)+32

                                     c=  1.8*(-40)+32

                                      c= -72+32

                                       c= -40

                                        f=(c-32)/1.8

                                        f=(-40-32)/1.8

                                          = -40

  5. [°F] = [°C] × 9⁄5 + 32

  6. Okay: Google you Q, Fahrenheit to Celsius

    Lars.
