I own 90,000 shares of stock in a bio fuel (ethanol & bio diesel) and commercial development company. I have always been interested in a good stock investment due to the highest rate of return on your money. This company is very small. I am sure it will grow over the years. The President & CEO is a personal friend of mine. Question (2). Since I own so many shares, does this qualify me to sit on the Board of Directors?

  1. Depends on how many OTHER shares there are. If you 90 K is a majority, then by majority vote you can put yourself on the board. (You would probably know about it if you were a majority.)

Or you might lobby the other share holders to vote you on the board.

In some cases, not all classes of stock permit voting. It's possible you can't vote at all. You should have info around to tell you if you have voting shares. Most shares ARE voting, so you probably do have such.
