Both look tempting. Which one would you go with and why? How much longer would you ride it out?

  1. Gm is doing better than Ford at the moment.  As a consumer I would invest in what I drive and that would be GM.  I think both companies will market better fuel efficient vehicles as that is what is in demand right now they would be fools not too!

  2. Neither, right now, if you're talking about stocks.  (Some of their high-yield bonds look interesting, though.)

I wouldn't buy them on price alone.  They need to show that they understand the limitations of their old business model, and catch up to Toyota's (and Hyundai, etc.) .  For example, will the Chevy Volt really be well-designed and well-built, and delivered in quantity in time to compete?  Does Ford understand it can't just ride on its trucks and SUVs any more?  Do both of them understand that dumping huge volumes of otherwise unwanted cars into the fleet markets is a bad idea in the long run?  In addition, continuing to get control of expenses is a must -- although they have shown some progress in that area.

  3. I wouldn't at any price.  Either or both could wind up bankrupt.  The damned fools thought they could sell SUVs and pickups for ever and had no variety in their car models.  Now they are suffering the consequences.  Sort of serves them right, but it is a shame.  Too darn bad the stock holders have to suffer while management takes home mulit million dollar salaries for their stupidity. Hey, it's the American way.
