At what rate does Metal decompose?

Obviously it takes a while, but everything eventually has to, right?

  1. It depends what conditions the metal is in.  


  2. Metals are elements, so decompose to what?  Radioactive metals decompose to other elements.  But otherwise they have already been around for a few billion years.

  3. Metal does not decompose.  

  4. I would have to say that the rate of breakdown of metal is directly proportionate to the elements of the chart it is exposed to.

  5. Metals may oxidize or combine with Chlorine or other elements, but they don't really decompose.    Some metals like gold are extremely slow to react with anything.
