  1. I would serve that beer around 11 - 13C or about 52 - 55 F .  That is a good temperature for serving english ales.

  2. MYTH ALERT!

No beer should be served at room temperature (72F).  Ethanol becomes much more volatile at 74F, and will make any alcoholic drink harsh and unpleasant, even at 5%ABV.

The proper temperature for beer depends on its style.

    - Serve fruit beers at 40-50° F.

    - Serve wheat beers and pale lagers at 45-50° F.

    - Serve pale ales and amber or dark lagers at 50-55° F.

    - Serve strong ales, such as barley wines and Belgian ales, at 50-55° F.

    - Serve dark ales, including porters and stouts, at 55-60° F.

Basically, the darker the beer, the warmer you serve it.  Lighter colored beers can go lower, 35F; in the case of cheap light lager, as cold as it can get before freezing would be best to hide the "flavor."

  3. It is down to personal taste - for me 4C (or fridge temperature) is perfect.

Traditional ales (found at the pub) are hand drawn from barrels located in the basement - where the temperature is typically less than "room temperature" (but can be warmer than fridge temperature depending on season etc)...
