This coming July I will be going on an Alaskan cruise with Princess out of Seattle. I am planing to take the 1:00PM flight back to Miami after the cruise. The ship docks at 7 AM.

Would I make it, or should I choose a later flight?

  1. about 12 or 1 is fine

  2. IT SHOULD BE OK JUST TELL THE CRUISE LINES WHAT TIME IS YOUR FLIGHT AND THEY WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET TO THE AIRPORT IN TIME

  3. A 1:00pm flight should be fine. it allows you plenty of time to get off the ship, find your luggage and transit to the airport without any panic.

The ship should start disembarking at around 7:30am - 8:00am and all passengers should be clear by 9:00am.

An earlier flight might be a bit stressful, but 1:00pm gives you plenty of leeway.

  4. You will have plenty of time to make your flight.

  5. The cruise is aware of your flight times. The ship docks at 7am & then deboarding starts at around 7:30am. The airport is less than 30 minutes away. You will more than likely be one the last to leave the ship unless you have booked atour of Seattle. You will go threw customers(no problem) pick up your luggage & then take the bus to the airport. Check in there will only take 10 minutes or so & you will be on your way to your gate. There plenty of places to eat & shop on the second floor. So you will have no problems making your flight so relax & enjoy a truly amazing cruise.

  6. I think you would make it, i would feel comfortable flying back at 1pm. I've been on a few cruises..have fun!!

  7. In general you want to schedule flights back home from a cruise in the afternoon.  So you should be okay with a 1:00pm return flight.

Of my ten cruises I have flown home six times.  I don't recall the time of my flight home after my Alaska cruise (that was in 1999 and was out of Vancouver).

I have flown home three times from Miami.  Once it was the following morning (so I could do some sight seeing the day I disembarked from the ship).  Once it was at 4:00pm (the earliest flight I could get) and once it was at 11:37am.  I was the first one off the ship not dragging my luggage and I cleared security around 10:20am if I recall correctly.

My flight home from Orlando was around 6 or 7pm (again, the earliest flight I could get).  So I rented a car and spent the day at Sea World.

My flight home from San Juan was 1:00 or 1:20pm (I don't recall which, as Delta kept changing the schedule).  I was using the luggage valet service (I checked in on the ship and handed my luggage to the airline before I left the dock).  As I recall I cleared security around 11 or 11:30.

So you should be fine with a 1:00pm flight home.  Just make sure the cruise line knows you are flighting out in the early afternoon.  You notify the ship of your flight while on board.

  8. That will be just fine. On one cruise that I took, my return flight was like 9am. So we had to get up at about 4am and got off the ship by 5am. It was too early. Everyone has to be off the ship no later then 10 am anyways so they can prepare the ship for the next group. So a 1pm flight is just right.
