  1. The next solar eclipse at least for a short moment visible in Delhi will be July 22, 2009. It will also be the longest lasting solar eclipse in this century, lasting for over 6 minutes.

This years total eclipse of the sun will not be visible in India at all, you will only be able to see a partial eclipse in Delhi. Maximum eclipse will be at around 11:35 UT.

  2. Hi Delhi!

The partial solar eclipse starts at 4:03 p.m. India Standard Time Friday afternoon.  At mid-eclipse, about 5:02 p.m., more than half of the solar disc will be covered.

This won't be enough for the sky to grow dark, although you should be able to notice crescent suns in the shadows of the leaves.  Birds are not likely to head to their nests, and you otherwise would probably not even know that an eclipse is in progress.

You'll need welder's glasses or a pinhole camera to see the sun.  The solar disc is otherwise too dazzling for your eyes to resolve the eclipse.
