  1. Here's a question: at what weight can a human fly? The answer, of course, is that the weight of the human (or elephant), is irrelevant as long as he/she has an airplane. For something to "fly," the upward force due to lift needs to cancel out the downward force due to weight.

    For dumbo, weight was irrelevant. It's clear from Disney's video footage (which shows Dumbo flying easily) that somehow the elephant's ears or some other mechanism provided an adequate amount of lift to carry him off of the ground and keep him in the air. I assume that Dumbo could still fly even when he got older, so the weight doesn't really matter.
