Ateneo and La Salle College Entrance Test (ACET & DLSUCET) HELP! =)?

Question

I'm an incoming 4th year High School student and I'm going to take the college admission tests for college this year.

What topics should i review for the College Entrance Test of DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY MANILA and ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY?

I want to take

- BS Accountancy at the De La Salle University Manila

or

- BS Management Engineering at the Ateneo De Manila University.

What are my chances of being accepted in the universities?

My High School average is 90 (or above)... Do they also consider that in DLSU?

Is the Entrance Test really hard? I already forgot my High School (1st year to 3rd year) lessons.

How hard is the ACET and DLSUCET ?

Please help me! I'm not prepared for the Entrance Tests! =)

From what I remember, the ACET consists of three parts:

1.) English (GRAMMAR-finding and correcting errors in a sentence, sentence completion, proper word usage, essay writing, etc)

2.) Math (All about High School Algebra [real numbers, algebraic expressions, equations, functions, sequences, etc.], Geometry [basic concepts/formulas, and postulates/theorems on lines, angles, segments, polygons and circles], and a little of basic Trigonometry [basic terms, concepts, and the basic trig identities]; no problem solving here, its in the 3rd part)

3.) General Intelligence (General Information, Logic, Abstract Reasoning, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Math Problem Solving)

I forgot the DLSUCET parts but the exam contains almost the same topics but has more Science questions (ACET has no Science Part, just a few science in the gen info) and has a Filipino essay (ACET is an all English exam).

Personally I found both tests generally easy (but this will depend on how you are as a student in high school). Looking at your HS average, I'd say you have a very good chance to pass both entrance exams (yes, they do consider that!). Just prepare adequately, rest well and sleep early before the exam.

At this point, reviewing textbooks won't help anymore. Besides, time management in the test is more important than pure knowledge. My suggestion is try to buy those review books with reviewers and sample tests (with answer key when possible). It will also probably help if you still have your own English and Math notes from High School.

To qualify for the BS ME of ADMU and probably accountancy as well, you need to have good scores in the Math parts and good Math grades from HS. Also, you need to score well enough to be in the top 15% of the ACET examinees (your score is defined by your rank). With adequate and reasonable preparation, you can do it! Good luck!

You take the same test no matter what course you take. Study Math (Algebra to Trig), Science, Logic, Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning, Vocabulary, Reading and Writing. Buy a reviewer that has sample tests. The key in doing well in tests like these is confidence. Studying by reading text books is not effective because the assumption of these tests is that you already know the content. The other obstacle now is your mental and psychological state. That is why you MUST do practice tests. This helps eliminate fear of the unknown. Good luck! Don't you want to take the UPCAT as well?
