Question:

Atheists, can we agree on this?

Atheists and Christians have very little common ground. However, We agree on one point. The Earth is coming to an end. For us it is the return of Christ, For scientist's this is the sun expanding or decreasing in size thus burning or freezing the earth, If not sooner by comet/asteroid impact, global warming or a million other possibilities. Without a doubt this will end this grand, yet brief period of human exsistance. And will wipe away even the memory of man's achievments, There are no other planets that could sustain life. So under the idea of a godless universe all man's endevors are futile. Soo. Why do you consider us to be bad just because we see a point to life and have hope of eternity. If Christians bother you I assure you most do so out of concern for you and there exists no intent to harrass, rather to help. Oh I'm sure there are mean-spirited so called Christians. But the majority truly have concern. Would you hate the fireman attempting to pull you from a fire? God Bless

  1. Expanding that thought a little further, the Bible says the heavens will melt with fervent heat and that we "look for a new heaven and a new earth".

Scientists are already searching the universe for a new home for the human race.

  2. There are other planets that could sustain life. I don't agree. Man's efforts are only futile if we die off.

  3. You know, your example really is a very poor one.  A fireman attempting to pull me from a fire would be doing so literally, you people are not.  All you have to understand is one very simple thing:  live and let live!

The other thing is that your philosophy and beliefs are very dangerous to human kind in general not just atheists, if left to your own devices, the kaput would happen sooner rather than later, the proof is that when religion ruled the Earth, it was called The Dark Ages

  4. LOL

We are busy living THIS life the best we can. You are the one obsessed with "the Earth coming to an end."

There are lots of things that could go wrong and cause the world harm, or not. Live your life well. Be moral for moralities sake.

  5. 1. The sun will explode after billions of years: We would have evolved into something totally different, built cities in space possibly even developed the technology to create new planets and stars..

    2. man's endeavors are equally futile in a God ruled Universe..Whatz the point to eternal life? Do anything and you are back doing the same thing tomorrow, indefnitely. Mortality gives purpose to life.

    3. Nobody should hate a good fireman, but if there is nutcase who storms into your house imagining a non existent fire and tries to pull you out of the s*****r into the street...

  6. Condescend much?

  7. 1.) It will be at least a billion years before the Earth becomes too hot to sustain life. That's a long time we've got to crack the secret of interstellar travel. Even if we don't, surely the fact of us living our lives is a point in itself?

2.) We don't consider you to be bad - just wrong

  8. It'll be millions of years before the sun goes kaput. Hopefully, by that point we'll have found our way to the stars.

Unless the majority of Christians who don't renew the environment have polluted the heck out of us and killed off our resources, anyway. (You're the ones that believe it's disposable.)

  9. You must be new here.

God bless you for trying though.

  10. GROW UP!  no, we cannot agree on that. All you are trying to say is that we will agree with your stupid  ideas that some terrible thing is going to bring you to heaven, which does not exist.  Why don't you admit that your stories about the tribulation etc are all just lies?  Stop trying to scare people into believing your lies

  11. I don't consider you bad. Maybe annoying, but not bad.

And I am not dying from a fire, so tell the fireman to stay away from me.

  12. The earth will end

  13. "So under the idea of a godless universe all man's endevors are futile. "

You were doing okay until that.

As for the "fireman" thing, the problem with that analogy is that Christians aren't firemen, they're arsonists. Or perhaps they're the fire. Anyway, atheists are the firemen.

  14. First point, there may be other planets that can support life, we just don't know.  Maybe we "hope" to find a planet that can support our life.  At least we are out there looking for one rather then just sitting around hoping in a heaven or an afterlife.

Second point, how is the "hope" of a better life in the afterlife better than the truth?  We know we are all doomed.  We enjoy life while we can, and then we die.  Is it because HOPE helps you cope.  That's fine with me.  I don't hate you for it.  Hope is a good thing.

  15. I would hate the fireman who keeps smashing in my front door because he imagines my house is on fire.

  16. If you believe that we have a limited time here on earth, you will understand that atheists like me do not appreciate certain christians who want to legislate their beliefs into laws that I have to follow.

I do not want any christian "firemen" pulling me out of some imaginary fire, just as you do not want any atheist "firemen" pulling you out of your religious beliefs.

Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself (Confucius, 500BC).

  17. your not bad....your just here to entertain me on mythological thoughts

  18. The fireman analogy is more appropriate then you might want it to be. Imagine a group of people trying to break into your house and smashing things up because they are trying to "save" you from a fire that isn't real.

When you try to "save" me from science and various civil rights I think you are functioning exactly like those deluded firemen you refer to.

  19. The sun has a good few million years left in it yet, by then we may have found a way to colonise another planet, who knows?

I don't consider most christians to be bad.  Some are, but I'm sure that can be said of any group of people. Certainly not bad for having hope that there is more to life. Just because I disagree with the reasoning behind that belief doesn't mean I think anyone is bad for holding it:)

  20. No, but I would think him a little mental if there was, in fact, no fire.

  21. So you guys are willing to wait another 3 billion years?

  22. If i wanted to stay in that fire and burn yes I would. The fireman should understand that its my choice to choose whether I want to stay or go.

  23. There is no reason to think there is not life on other planets.

And, I'm annoyed by the fireman who is pulling me from a fire only he sees.  He thinks he's saving me.  I know he's annoying me.

  24. Don't know if there's a point to life, but there is no point to this rant...

  25. er the sun has another 5 billion years left so you've given jesus plenty of time to return.

We might be hit by an asteroid and it might be catastrophic.

Global warming might be catastrophic if we don't stop it, but not in our lifetime.  I'm not going to live my life on the assumption that the Day After Tomorrow or Armageddon are true.

Christians are largely not bad people - I have never claimed otherwise.  I just don't believe that being religious automatically makes you a good person.

Last time I checked firemen didn't go around saving people from invisible fires that they can't prove are actually burning.

  26. Everything comes to an end eventually but who says it is going to happen tomorrow ? If we can keep congenital idiots out of the whorehouse we should be OK for a while yet .

  27. "most do so out of concern for you"

Yeah, I know, but it's real bothersome.

Imagine if you were part of a small population that didn't believe in Santa.

Everywhere you looked, on the radio, songs about Santa,  laws preventing things "Santa" dislikes.

"In Santa we trust" on your money & at your door were ppl insisting that you need Santa & that they're trying to save you from freezing at the north pole. Ppl/family members treating you like dirt because you won't except Santa.

I think you would be quite annoyed also.

  28. If by 'the Earth is coming to an end', you mean in five million years, then yes, I agree.

Global Warming will stop only if we act now.

  29. Honey...

People don't want it to be like in the dark ages... where the christians would start witch hunting, killing homosexuals and non-believers

    all over again.

  30. I don't consider you to be bad.  For the most part you entertain me a great deal.

  31. well there is no other point we stand together.

When the anti-christ comes to power, everyone will be forced to accept him as their god, or die.

Many Christians and die-hard atheists will stand hand and hand as they are executed for their defying the anti-christ.
