Gal 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

So this proves that Paul isn't sexist and it also proves that the bible, NT, doesn't condone slavery. ^_^

Did you know this?

  1. How does this concern atheists?

  2. They tell me that Paul was from the Hebrew side of town and was illiterate in a Roman sense.

  3. I did not know that. I like to learn something new every day so thanks.

I'm still an atheist though. But, like I said, thanks for the tid bit!

  4. No, but I have asked once before and never received an answer... Who is Paul?

  5. do you think the bible validates itself or something?

  6. Did you also know that Paul was a gynophobic hebaphrenic schizophrenic?

  7. Saul was also the "apostle" who never met Jesus and said that women should be silent and submissive in their own homes and even in their places of worship, should never hold any position of authority and that they should dress like ninjas.

It was Saul of Tarsus that killed your god's chosen people and even early followers of Christ, yet you "Christians" seem to adore him even more than Jesus.

  8. I knew it, but I'm no atheist.  It's why there will be no marriage in heaven, for the same reason there will be no slavery and no race wars in heaven.  There will be peace there.

Now, we are stuck on earth.  But Christians should heed this verse in the contexts of their dealings with all people (even us loud-mouthed women).

When you're comparing the Old Testament laws (regarding slavery or whatever) or even the New Testament church rules, the proper comparison is what the heathen cultures were doing at the same time.  If you do this, you see that God provided human boundaries where none previously existed.  You cannot compare that time to this one without being ethnocentric.

Anyone who reads Philemon as Paul's endorsement of slavery is missing the boat on who Paul was.  Many of the early Christians were in slavery under Roman rule.  Neither Jesus nor Paul came to save people from Roman rule.

  9. OT is sexist, and condones slavery.

If christianity was really against that, why do they keep it in their fairy tale collection?

  10. The former Saul turned Paul is an insignificant t**d in my personal firmament.

P.S. Did you know that only three of the so-called epistles have been confirmed as genuine by bible scholars, while another one may be written by Paul but its authorship is still in question? All the others attributed to this insignificant little t**d are frauds.

  11. I know he made the statement.  I also know he made other statements to the effect that women are beneath men and should be silent in church.  Re: slavery, have you read the book of Philemon? Paul contradicts himself a lot.  But then, he said he would be all things to all people, so there ya go.  A politician of the highest order.

  12. In answer to the question, yes.

To those saying that there are errors and contradictions in the bible....send them to me, and I will show you where you are wrong. The contradictions are supposed, and most of them are taken out of context. I was sent two pages full by an atheist and have disproven every one of them.

For those that talk about Paul telling women how to dress, being beneath mean and so forth....from the very beginning, woman was made FROM man. She is part of Him, and should act as such. Some of the points you all try to make are taken out of context. Read the whole book and you will see why he was adressing these churches the way he did. The Church at Corinth and Ephesus had gotten out of control and were out of order. He did this to bring order back, not to demean anyone.

  13. that only proves that the new testament is very different from the old one.

wait, wasn't paul the one who told women to shut up in church? correct me if i'm wrong.

  14. I don't believe that it proves this at all.  The bible is full of contradictory statements.  In one it says all are equal, in another it gives a husband the right to beat his wife.  Did you know this?

Edit: FYI, there is more to the bible than the writings of Paul, did you know this?

  15. This does not prove that Paul was not a sexist.  Whether men and women are "one in Christ Jesus" does not relate to the rights that Paul felt should be afforded to women.  He could believe that "all are one" and still refuse to allow women to vote, hold a leadership role, or even speak in the church.

  16. Wow shark tooth. Good job with the out of context ridiculousness. But yes you bring a valid point. Well I feel like an idiot now answeing this question froma Christian that puts Paul on such a throne of perfection. The Bible is inerrant but Paul isnt. There is alot oyu dont know Mr Lion of Judah.

  17. I do not believe that Paul was sexist as the gnostics believed in equality for men and women. However, several other books attributed to Paul (but written by early church fathers) do contain sexist remarks. There has also been a case where Paul wrote about equality and the scribe wrote in his own note stating his opposition to Paul's words. This was incorporated into the text so now it is wrongfully attributed to Paul.
