  1. No, that is stupid.

  2. Nope

  3. Nope.

But I think that is an American thing...

My church still had to pay taxes and all that junk. No, wait... churches are tax-exempt... Why not mine? xD

  4. h**l no! If religious groups want to get into politics, they can start by paying taxes!

  5. No I don't think so

    Harriet

  6. Not when they generate enough income to build these mega Churches complete with starbucks.

  7. No, their books need scrutiny like all other organizations.

If a church can show that 94% of their take goes directly to charity, then I'm okay with non profit status.

  8. As long as the constitution says they do, they do.

I don't personally think it's right, but it IS constitutional.

  9. No.

They are business entities engaged in the dispension of political ideas in order to control a large section of the community.

It is the ability to use the church for the dissemination of political notions by the government that keeps them from paying taxes.

  10. Sure, why not.  As long as they stay out of politics.  That was the deal.

Churches as social charitable organizations can do a lot of good if they choose to do so.  What I don't see, is a lot of that good going around.

  11. My feelings are that if you don't pay taxes then you don't get to call on social services...like the fire dept., police dept., national guard, or anything else that is paid for by my money.

  12. Only if they stay out of the government.  If they want to control the government, then they should support the government.  If they don't pay taxes, then they should have no say in what the government does.

Are you aware that when a church is built, the local business & homeowner property taxes go up to make up for the taxes that the churches don't pay?

  13. No more nor less than any citizen does. To give tax exempt status to a church is to treat it BETTER than a citizen, and thats wrong.
