What doctor?  Lots of doctors tell lots of people they are too fat.

If the obesity is an actual health problem, then that's their job.  Many times the doctors are just talking out of their rectums though.

edit: obesity is not in and of itself a health issue.  There are lots of perfectly healthy, happy people out there who are fat--doctors should differentiate between the two, but many don't.

edit: after reading the story, it sounds like the woman had a right to complain (she complained, she didn't sue).  For him to simply tell her she had to lose weight because she was fat--not because she had a specific health issue arising from her weight--he was both unprofessional and insensitive.

Doctors making knee-jerk pronouncements to a patient without an underlying medical basis are being lazy and judgemental.  I don't think the guy should lose his license or anything--in fact I think that the initial recommendation of a letter expressing concern was probably enough

hes a doctor, hes trying to tell her her health is in jeapordy, in this day and age when obesity seems to be far too normal,

peopel need to remember that their feelings are second health first with doctors and hes doing it FOR her,

if she cant accept that shes obese then thats really the worst problem she has
