  1. which god?

  2. There is no credible, tangible, verifiable, irrefutable evidence to support the existence that there is a deity.

  3. same reason not to believe that Harry Potter is not real. good story. but just not believable. not to mention that if it was to turn out that he is "real" he has done a really crappy job of being a god.

  4. Whatever religion you were indoctrinated with leads you to belive that the rest of the world is totally wrong. All an atheist myself included is someone who believes that everyone who believes in religion is wrong.

    Simple.

  5. Logic

  6. Intellectual honesty.  There is more evidence for the fact that god/s are invented by man, than there is for man being 'made' by a god.

  7. Every religious text that has ever described a god has been proven to be false.

I therefore see no reason to believe in ANY gods, not just the popular ones.  In essence, my reasons for not believing in YOUR god are the same reasons that you don't believe in EVERYONE ELSE'S gods.

I am a Taoist however, and see the universe in much the same way that many religious people do.  I just don't attempt to project a personality or desires onto the universe, when it clearly does not have them.

  8. Contradictions, is that simple.

  9. there is ZERO proof of god's existance.

the reason I don't believe in god is the same reason I don't believe in superman or in unicorns or the tooth fairy.

  10. I have no reason to believe in a god.

There is no empirical evidence. That does it for me.

But I also don't get any kind of psychological or emotional gratification from believing in a god. Religion appeals to me because I like the architecture and social gatherings, but it excludes people who don't believe in the same beliefs.

Religions are very divisive these. And some Christians are learning to deny science as a part of their faith (evolution / stem cells). I am ruthless about using my mind. I am turned off big time when I see people shut down due to their belief in a god.

  11. there are so many gods who say basically the same thing yet are mutally exclusive.

It's like when your parents take you to a shopping centre and there;s a dozen santas each claiming that the others are fakes and they are the one true santa.

Rather that trying to measure their beards and the jollyness of their Ho Ho Ho 's i just assume their all lying until they can present flying reindeer.

  12. no reason

    no evidence

    no need.

  13. There's simply no convincing or reliable evidence in support of the God Hypothesis.

I'd convert on the spot if any were ever presented for peer review, and it withstood critical scrutiny.

  14. Logically impossible.

But I'll give you the other big one: No evidence.

  15. Because h**l isn't justice and Jesus dieing for my sins/Eve eating the fruit isn't accountability. The virtues fall very short.

Plus I have a general problem with hierarchy, all of it. I am a fan of freedom for all. I don't need a commander.

  16. There is NO physical, sexual, or financial profit in it.

  17. A complete lack of empirical evidence.

I was never indoctrinated into a mind control cult as a child.

  18. The complete absence of evidence for any of the thousands of gods in human history, and the plethora of evidence that they are a bunch of bronze-age superstition and myths.

  19. Just ask yourself why you don't believe is Zeus. Give me one shred of evidence that he might exist, and I MIGHT consider being an agnostic.

  20. The Law of Identity.

  21. There is ABSOLUTELY NO credible, tangible, irrefutable, verifiable, concrete evidence that would support the existence of ANY 'god'. None. Nada. Zip. Zero.

  22. Ummm... what is your main reason FOR believing in god(s)?

Fear of death?  Fear of the unknown?  Fear of eternal damnation?

You know, fear really isn't a very good basis for a belief system.

Ask yourself this question, "Why don't I believe in Vishnu, Odin, Ra, Minerva, or any of the other multitudes of gods out there?"

  23. If God exists, creates and cannot be created. The same can be said of the universe that it exists, creates and need not be created. We simply exists because the universe is perfect but our understanding of it is imperfect. Perfect means u get results without working on it. If GOD needs to create the world.........thats imperfect. He needs to work to get results, how is that compared to the former.

  24. there is no logical or realistic possibility of the religious god existing because it is just a sociological and psychological ideal

if there IS any creator, it is NOT the religious one, its a more realistic and possible one

  25. There's just not an iota of evidence to support the existence of any gods (not just yours)

  26. The existence of God is impossible and his plan, as taught by every religion I've been in contact with, is ridiculously biased and unjust which is clearly not the work of a perfect being.

  27. It's not that I don't believe in God because I hate him, it's more like I just don't think believing in God is smart or useful.  A belief in God seems to get in the way of clear thinking for most people - it is another obstacle, another prejudice, that must be overcome in order to see things as they are - Reality.  Now some people say ultimate Reality is god, but calling something god just seems to confuse things.  Anything that we can possibly believe about "god" - the ultimate reality - must be false, including thinking that "he" exists or does not exist in the way we conceive.  I agree with the Christian mystic Meister Eckhardt who said, "God is the final illusion to be overcome before realizing God."

  28. No evidence.

And for future reference could you try and look at the four billion other questions about this just to get the gist of it?

  29. An education.

  30. I will assume you don't believe in unicorns. My main reason for not believing in God is probably the same as your reason for not believing in unicorns. They are both apocryphal stories with no supporting evidence.

Let me try to put it another way. You say "God" in your question not "gods". This implies you believe in only one. That means of all the tens of thousands of other gods ever worshiped by somebody you are an atheist with regard to every single one with only one exception. Therefore you and I are not so different, I just take my atheism one god further. Also, is it not the height of special pleading to treat your God so differently from all the rest?

  31. I have no need to believe in any god, and there is no credible evidence that any god exists.
