If someone was holding a gun to your head and told you that you had to say that God was real or they would kill you would you still deny God existed, knowing that you were going to die, or would you claim that God existed, knowing you would survive?

  1. you mean if given the choice of life or death which would i chose?  i might say i god existed but does that change reality?

  2. Of course.  I can lie to nutjobs no problem

  3. Honestly I probably would just so I wouldn't die...I'm not Socratic enough to stand up for that in a life or death situation.

  4. Of course I'd claim that god existed.  I'd also agree that tin foil makes good hats, Gorbachev is a hottie or anything else he wanted me to say.  You never argue with a psycho with a gun - whats wrong with you?

  5. I know God is real. AS long as it's not real.

  6. I think I could get over lying just once in order to save my life. I couldn't care less if some nut with a gun thinks I have no integrity.

  7. I would say God was real, but I wouldn't mean it.

Sorry, but I'm not going to waste my life trying to prove a point to a religious nutjob.

  8. I'd lie like a rug and live to testify in court.

I have principles, but I also have a family that needs me.

  9. Yeah, Of Course.  I'm Not So Arrogant That I Wouldn't Lie To Save My Life. :D

  10. Lie. They're not asking me to harm anyone. I don't mind lying under duress.

Edit: I'm not sure if I could say tapioca is good, though. Icky.

  11. Wham!  The gun goes flying,  the Waffle Captain dives and clutches it in mid air.  Doing a 360 somersault, he squeezes off 10 rounds into the crazy scumbag.  The body lingers before dropping face-first to the floor.

    Sorry, I drifted off.

  12. this is a rather odd question, obviously we have a survival instinct, and mine works fine, if i had a mad man with a gun tellignme to say god exists or i die,

yes, i 'll do it, of course, without hesitation,

that doesnt mean i beleive it or agree with it, but im still alive arnt i, and thats what matters, thats the point in life, survival, not pride, if i let my pride rule me then, id be dead, and it will do me no good

  13. Of course I'd say god is real!

My only obligation is to myself in that situation.

Atheists don't martyr themselves for no god.

    (At least this one doesn't...)

  14. Nope.  But since the gunman is most likely a believer, I would remind him of that "thou shalt not kill" business.

  15. Of course I would say God is real if someone was holding a gun to my head.  Get real.  We atheists don't fear the wrath of God for lying in order to save our own hide.

I know, you most likely would never say that God is not real even if someone was holding a gun to your head.

  16. I would say it was real, it is only words, and if it keeps me alive, "mission accomplished"

  17. I value my life so yes I would lie to a maniac with a gun.

If an insane person held a gun to my head and told me to say the easter bunny was real I would do that too.

  18. I have been near to death three times. Found no god, needed no god, reinforced no god.

Is a conversion at the point of a gun any conversion at all? For anyone can hold a gun.

  19. of course, I would spout any silly lie the person wanted.

  20. Of course I would say God is real. It's not like I'm morally obliged to stick with atheism or something. I would be lying, but so what?

  21. I'd spit in their face. They could be forcing me to say that tapioca is good. I'd still be p*ssed.

  22. I would lie and tell the person holding the gun whatever they wanted to hear.

  23. I'd lie my *** off. I have no reason to give my life for my lack of belief.

  24. There is this atheist swimming in the ocean. All of a sudden he sees a shark in the water, so he starts swimming furiously towards his boat.

As he looks back, he sees the shark turn and head towards him. He's scared to death, and as he sees the jaws of the great white beast open, revealing its horrific teeth, the atheist screams, "Oh God! Save me!"

In an instant, time is frozen and a bright light shines down from above. The man is motionless in the water when he hears the voice of God say, "You are an atheist. Why do you call upon me when you do not believe in me?"

Confused, and knowing he can't lie, the man replies, "Well, that's true I don't believe in you, but how about the shark? Can you make the shark believe in you?"

The Lord replies, "As you wish," and the light retracts back into the heavens. The man feels the water move once again.

As the atheist looks back, he can see the jaws of the shark start to close down on him, when all of sudden the shark stops and pulls back.

Shocked, the man watches as the huge beast closes its eyes, bows its head and says,

"Thank you Lord for this food which I am about to receive..."

    Peace

  25. With or without a gun being held to my head, I will always without hesitation claim God as my Father and as my creator in heaven and on earth.

    GOD  BLESS!     AMEN!     SHALOM!

  26. I'd lie and say god exists.  The other team would lie also under the same circumstances.
