I'm atheist and I enjoy reading the Bible. The Bible is history and, like other religious books, has quite a bit of wisdom and spirituality in it. It actually bothers me when people put the book down even though they have never read it. Makes me think those people can't think for themselves. Sure criticize it if you wish but at least read the darn thing first.
On the other side of the coin are those who take the Bible a bit too far. Let's get real here. No, it's not God's word, and every word cannot be taken literally. People who believe that seriously need to learn to think for themselves. God, omnipotent and omniscient as s/he is, wouldn't have let so many contradictions and inconsistencies slip through. Let's face it, if God had written the Bible we could definitely argue that Shakespeare is a better writer, and easily win. The Bible was obviously written by people without the assistance of divine intervention.
So anyway, are there atheists out there who read the Bible?
