It is very easy to criticize being on the side line and not taking any sides, mocking christians for what we believe is true, if you can prove to me that God does not exist than I will stop being a christian, but It will be a tough one, you all know this statement, you cannot see the wind but you can feel it so you know it is there thats how we feel about God. If you cannot give me a straight answer dont even bother replying for you dont have an answer as to why you are an atheist.

  1. It is impossible to prove a negative.

Please provide me with evidence of the Christian god's existence.

I lack belief in gods because there is no evidence of the existence of any gods.

  2. If God existed, you wouldn't have made so many spelling and grammatical mistakes.

  3. Education.

    Get one.

  4. It is not possible to prove a negative. Since theists are the people who are making the positive claim, the burden of proof lies with them.

  5. The whole "you can't see wind but you know it's there" thing has been done to death.

There is no objective evidence for any god.

You're going to get told about the Burden of Proof fallacy which you just committed and also that you cannot prove a negative claim.

Congratulations! You have committed 3 logical fallacies in one paragraph!

  6. You've just got to have faith.

  7. I can't prove Santa does not exist either.

  8. As I'm sure plenty have said by now, you cant disprove a negative.  Its like trying to disprove Santa, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or the Easter Bunny.  Just like children believe in Santa with not one shred of evidence, that is the same way Christians believe in Jesus.

  9. There are all kinds of complicated and arcane philosophical and logical arguments that have been put forward to suggest that the case for God is unlikely, but there has never been a serious attempt to "prove" that God does not exist.  The reason for this is because it is impossible to prove that God, or anything else, does not exist, as anyone familiar with the rudiments of logic is aware.

I cannot prove that the God of the Bible does not exist, but neither can I prove that Zeus, Odin, Ra, Ahura Mazda, Vishnu or a thousand other gods do not exist.  Those gods have been believed to exist by billions of people over the millenia, and at least in the case of Vishnu there are over a billion people today who believe that he exists.  I am quite certain that you do not believe in any of these gods, even though you can't prove that they do not exist.  To paraphrase a quote that has been used on this forum many times, when you understand why you do not believe in all these hundreds of other gods that billions of people have believed in, you will understand why I do not believe in the God of the Bible.  It is just as simple as that.

  10. I think that may be right. Just believe....

  11. *sigh* For the fifth time today you cannot prove a negative. The burden of proof rest with those that believe god exists not the ones who don't.

  12. Atheists can not prove that God doesn't exist. Christian's can't prove that he does exist. That is the mystery. I guess we'll find out when we die. If we go to heaven, good. If their is not anywhere to go then I don;t think it matters who was right because we'll be dead.

  13. Oh, now there's an original and thoughtful question. Oh, and you threw in that "wind" nonsense to boot.

This kind of question is exactly why it's so clear that believers are far less informed about religion than are atheists. You should have learned something about religion before coming here to insult those who do.

  14. The burden of proof isn't on us, kiddo. It's on those who make extraordinary claims. In other words, you.

  15. Here we go again, boys and girls!  <drink>

Fuego, since you're new here, you may want to dial down that overlarge ego of yours until you learn the ropes.

  16. It's so unfortunate that man has been so programed from the beginning to believe in a myth that controls mankind to this vary day, and there are many of us today that have come to know the truth, and we now know the real power is in man himself not some mythical God. you can certainly believe in what ever you want as long as you keep your beliefs to yourself, and as you can see religion is losing it's place in society today. peace be with you.

  17. Nothing can be proven. If it could, there would be no faith, and therefore no point.

  18. I'm a Deist. I believe the consciousness of the entire universe is God. Now prove to me that MY God does NOT exist.

    I know I can't prove it.

Prove to me that the invisible leprechaun in my living does NOT exist.

  19. "if you can prove to me that God does not exist than[sic]" (it's THEN)

Kid, because I can not disprove the existence of unicorns, elves, faeries and a plethora of other fictional creatures then according to your 'logic' they exist.

"If you cannot give me a straight answer dont[sic] even bother replying for you dont[sic] have an answer as to why you are an atheist."

    Straight answer, huh?

Kid, I first heard of the invisible sky critter scam when I was seven; even at that age I was amazed that adults would believe in such obvious nonsense; 54 years later and I am even more amazed.

For years I searched for evidence that any breed of invisible sky critter existed and there was NONE.

Good things happen to bad people; bad things happen to good people.

It's EXACTLY as if there is no 'god'.

    Amazing, huh?

The whole invisible-sky-critter scam is childish nonsense not too dissimilar to bogeymen under the bed; it was invented as a management tool to scare and or control peasants and small children.

Stephen F. Roberts: I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

  20. Sure

There is no evidence that any god exists.

If you're a christian though - there's a bit in the bible about true believers being able to drink poison and not die  -you could try that.  There's also a bit about Jesus doing absolutely anything you ask - moving mountains and what not.

Perhaps when you're done you could prove that there aren't inivisible blue fairies living at the bottom of my garden.  Or a teapot in an orbit around Mars.

  21. We have no desire to prove to you that God does not exist.  You're welcome to believe in God all you want as long as you keep it out of OUR laws, government, and educational systems.

Besides, we don't need to prove that something doesn't exist when that something has no evidence FOR existence to begin with.

And I have an answer as to why I'm atheist. I'm atheist because I have no reason NOT to be.  Why are YOU Christian?

  22. is there proof that he does??? enough said

  23. This question is messed up for several reasons (and I'm not even including your spelling).

Firstly why would christians want to prove God does not exist?

Secondly, how can Atheists prove that God does not exist? You cannot prove a negative. You can't prove to me that there aren't borrowers hidding in your room can you?

  24. You cannot prove that ANYTHING doesn't exist. I can't prove God doesn't exist anymore than you can prove Thor doesn't exist.

And by all means, practice Christianity, just keep your religion out of my science classes and laws, please.

  25. Why would anyone bother?
