  1. I don't know he does not exist.  However no-one has ever provided any kind of evidence that there is a deity of any kind.  No-one has ever shown me any real genuine thing that your imaginary friend has done that can not be explained by rational means.

So I do not beileve your imaginary friend exists.

Now, provide me PROOF that it does and I may listen to you.  I don't want spurious links to false claims of miracles.  I don't want quotes from a story book written over a period of several hundred years which claims to contemporaneous.  I want proof, scientific verifiable proof.  Until you can provide that then I will go on not believeing in your imaginary friend.

  2. ahem correct term is agnostic

atheist people acknowledge that there is a God they just don't worship

  3. Well the bigger question is how to you know that he does?

If you think about it, really we have a lot more proof than you, just because of the simple fact that you have zero proof.

And we do have evolution to back us up also. fair enough some people dont believe in it, and fair enought their are missing links, and not ALL theorys in eveolution are fact. However the actually concept of evolution is FACT. And we have DNA and fossil evidence to back us up.

and even if you still dont believe in it, and even IF we say hypothetical evolution isnt true(even tho it is) Wel at least we are trying to find proof and have theorys that do have some evidence, where as you dont even have a leg to stand on.

  4. Evidence.

If you look at the histories of all religions, you'll find that they have very human origins.  A review of their "holy" texts shows them to be a reflection of the times they were written, not divine knowledge.

Also, humans have a strong tendency to make-up and strongly believe in myths, superstitions, and urban legends.  You'll find the same basis and structure in any religion.  In fact, most religious stories can be traced to previous myths.

Then there is the question of definition.  Most people who believe a god exists can't even say what a god is.  The definition is generally too vague to apply any direct evidence for or against.  Basically, all you can go on for a definition are the claims by the religion of their god's actions.  And most of those claims can be easily refuted.

  5. The same way I know that a square circle or a married bachelor cannot exist.

  6. very easy

Your god only appears in a book of fairy tales, which also sates that donkeys can talk, people can live in whales, and that the earth is flat.

In other words, the only "proof" of your god exists in a work that is clearly fiction.

    As is your god

  7. i've looked in every conceivable place. if he does exist he's very good at hiding.

  8. The utter lack of evidence for the existence of any gods.

I know there is no Easter Bunny. I know that because there's no evidence for the existence of an Easter Bunny. Now replace "Easter Bunny" with "God". Same exact thing.

I find it utterly appalling that so many people are incapable of understanding this.

  9. Since it doesn't take a genius to ask you: "How do you KNOW that God DOES exist?", I'm gonna come up with something more intelligent.

First of all, being an atheist, is similar to your faith. It's not KNOWING per se, it's more BELIEVING.

However, unlike Christianity, believing God doesn't exist has it's moral debates and evidence, whereas believing that he exists is more wishful thinking.

  10. The same way I know that leprechauns, monsters under the bed and flying purple baboons do not exist...  Lack of evidence to support their existence...

  11. By thinking logically and asking these simple questions:

    1)  Where did 'god' come from?

    2)  Where is 'god; now?

  12. Because I personally do not think so. Feel free to believe that God is real, by all means. It is religion I find unbelievably distasteful, not the belief in God.

  13. how do you KNOW that the Flying Spaghetti Monster does NOT exist?

    ____

  15. As an intelligent person, my proof for determining that something exists, is if I can see it, feel it, touch it, smell it.

The Sun exists because I can see it.

A tree exists because I can touch it.

Atheists do NOT have to prove that God does not exist.

The onus is on the Christian to prove that he DOES exist.

Can you prove that God exists? No you can't

  16. deduction.

  17. They don't. They're in denial.

  18. I'm not even going to bother answering that question. If you actually knew the basic "beliefs" (if you would call them that) of atheism, you would probably be one yourself.

  19. Delusion is not proof.

    No evidence

    Period

  20. If a hypothesis is good 99% percent of the time, it is taken to mean that a hypothesis is good 100% percent of the time.

EDIT: I notice that is very easy to ignore the margin of error.

  21. Because they rule out the supernatural, because the supernatural cannot be scientifically measured.  Science is to do with what is consistent, observable and measureable.  So if there was a supernatural God he can't be found this way.

So atheists think they are right, because logic must be the be all and end all of everything.

Yet, some atheists are happy to accept other spiritual things such as reiki, or the psychic that predicts things on TV, or their horoscope in the newspaper.  None of those are measureable by science or logic.

  22. How do you KNOW that a flying pink unicorn doesn't live in the center of mars?

Most atheists don't believe in God because there is not sufficient evidence.

  23. There is absolutely no evidence.

    It is physically impossible.

    It is logically impossible.

  24. I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. ”

how do you know that FSM doesnt exist?

how do you know that Zeus doesnt exist?

how to you know that Santa claus doesnt exist?

how do you know that easter bunny doesnt exist?

for the same reason i know that god doesnt exists.

  25. I "know" to the same extent that you "know" that Thor isn't real.

  26. Read up on the Watchmaker Analogy.

    Read up on Evolution.

    Watch and observe Animal Behavior.

Travel around the world and see how many religions are there.

Read up on arguments for Atheism.

    Just think about it.

Read up on the Bible, for its number of contradictions and flaws alone will convince you.

    -

Mountains and mountains and mountains of proof are being presented to you people, and still you won't look. You are blinded by your desperation for something bigger than you.

WAKE UP! Your delusion is collapsing. have any of you people actually looked at your own religion with a questioning, critically intellectual eye? Have you ever just tried to think for once?!

Just look at the arguments for the existence of God. not one has a solid, fact-based ground. They are all hypothetical situations.

But the Arguments for the non-existence of God are all logic- and fact-based

  27. To ask that question, you have to ask yourself how anyone can really know anything.

And the answer depends purely and simply of the individual.

    Therefore, that question is subjective.

No two answers to your question should be the same.

  28. It depends on how you define KNOW. If it means absolute certainty without room for any doubt however small, then nobody knows anything. If it means enough, or more than enough, certainty to satisfy the search for truth, and the evidence supports it, then read on.

I was once a devout Catholic, until my mid-late teenage, when I realised that faith was based upon nothing but itself, and that ideas about particles/waves of matter/energy and forces interacting with each other in space-time in a finite, yet boundless, expanding universe, satisfied me as explanation about how nature works. And the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is extremely impressive. There was no need for supernatural beings or God, which so complicated things that it was virtually certain they don't exist.

I've read the Bible several times right through and refer to it regularly, because it's one of my interests. I wouldn't claim to be anything like expert, but I do have a good knowledge of it. I've also read the Qu'ran, but can't claim anything like the same knowledge as I have of the Bible.

I'm interested in understanding why people believe deeply in things that seem to me to be clearly untrue. And I've been interested in religions, mythology, folklore, fairy tales and related matters since I was a child.

  29. Because President Bush invaded Iraq.

  30. I see no evidence that he does and the burden of proof is not upon me, but upon you.

Since it is impossible to prove a negative, that something does not exist or is not, for example, the burden of proof is upon the person making the positive claim.  That's you.

  31. The god concept is logically impossible.

It's in the same way that you know 2+2 couldn't possibly equal 57 that I know the god concept to be, as stated, logically impossible.
