Atheists what do you think is a good symbol of Atheism?

For me it's a single terminated quartz crystal. Here's why...

* It's clear as crystal representing the strive for reality

* It's pointed down in one direction representing that my main goal is to obtain the truth and have logical and rational thinking

* It has many facets representing the many fields of Science and Experimentation

* It also reminds me to stop putting my head in the clouds and start concentrating on the real...Nature and Humanity.

I think this is a great symbol ( if you will ) of Atheism and Logic.

Share yours, please without the "nothing" answers because although Atheism may be a "lack" of a belief in a deity, it doesn't make it a "nothing".

  1. A monkey taking a bite of a banana and getting grossed out and throwing it away.

  2. How about a nice barbecued Babby? With corn on the cob on the side, as a backdrop to the symbol, perhaps. Maybe two cobs crossed with the tender-crisp Babby cradled right in front.

(sorry, gotta cut this short...mouth is watering)

  3. How about the word GOD in a circle with a line through it. That seems to say it all for me.

  4. Prometheus's flame which shines light on the darkness of ignorance.

    E=MC²

    Later addition.

The scarlet A has been adopted by many atheists, I haven't been keen on that due to Hawthorne's "Scarlet Letter" novel.

  5. I don't think atheism needs a symbol because it isn't ONE belief system or set of values. 100 atheists could each have different ideas on what their personal goals are.

I'm particularly interested in evolution, so something like a fossil might suit me.

  6. baby burger

  7. Atheism has absolutely nothing to do with Logic.  No matter how much you wish that to be true.  I have proved this many times with a simple test here on R&S.  Very few of the atheist on here actually know basic logic.  If you want, I will set up a simple test and you can watch most of the atheists on here either fail terribly or simply not try to solve the test.

  8. I believe the symbol is an a with the atom sign around it. Though I personally don't think there SHOULD be a sign for atheism, it would be nice to associate an image to atheism.

  9. I think the symbol of atheism should be no symbol.

And all of us atheists should have to not collect stamps, watch our favourite tv channel "off", partake in our favourite sport of not playing football and our hair colour should be bald.

  10. Don't group atheists. We're not a group.

    Crystals are lame.

I use the word "atheist" as that's all we have in common.

  11. No symbol,I don't want a "crucifix" hanging from my neck.

  12. A symbol would imply a belief system (at the very least, belief that a symbol will identify you).  So, you tell me.

  13. I don't think there should be one.  Not every atheist is interested in philosophical questions about reality, in science, or in the pursuit of truth/logic/rationality.  Atheism isn't synonymous with these things.  The idea is good, but atheism isn't the concept for which it should be a symbol.

  14. Mine, which is symbolic of the scarlet A.

  15. Atheism is not a religion, so the answer is that there shouldn't be a symbol.

  16. I'm still a fan of the footy fish

  17. Atheism needs no symbol.

It is not a cause or movement, it is only a lack of belief.
