  1. abstract,

    simple, i dont

i understand christianty very well , and thats WHY i feel the way about it that i do

but i dont hate christians, just christianity

there are plenty very nice christians

  2. You know, fundamentalist christians are pushing their laws in to secular legislation.

This is secular nation, not theocracy.

The second, you, christians, stop pushing your middle age manual as law, in to my secular government, i will back off

    Before that, never

Why the main criteria, to vote for president, has to be his belief in to a sky critter?

  3. We dislike what it means. "Go and preach the word of God, share it with your fellow man." has been taken far too far. We find so much wrong with it, and Christians believe in it all. We can't understand how you can. To us there is pretty much proof that it is wrong, and it's possibly your "ignorance" (not saying because I mean it, just saying because I've heard it before) that we hate.

  4. Not an atheist, but I feel a strong need to answer this question anyway.

I understand that there are people here who generalize their negative experiences of Christianity into a hatred for Christianity in general.  This is unfortunate and illogical, but understandable.

There are also those of us who play the "devil's advocate."  I personally try not to avoid the bad side of Christianity, just to avoid stepping on toes.  There are good Christians, and there are bad Christians.  To ignore either of these groups is dangerous.  I respect the Christian religion enough to recognize both its strengths and its shortcomings.

And of course, there are the people who insist that if you don't think and believe exactly as they do, you are wrong.  There are people like this in every religion, as well as among atheists.  It's a seductive point of view, but a dangerous one.

  5. "it's like you always SEEM to HATE christians for no apparent reason"

I don't 'hate' fundie - that is such a fundie word, you know?

An atheist will rarely use it.

The reason I point and laugh at ALL theists is cos it's all I CAN do.

You don't understand that the worst fundies (including moslim terrorists) are allowed to exist because believing in invisible sky critters is an accepted thing.

You and I are both atheist about most of the gods that have ever been invented - I just go one god further.

The whole invisible-sky-critter scam is childish nonsense not too dissimilar to bogeymen under the bed; it was invented by crafty old men as a management tool to scare and or control peasants and small children.

  6. I don't think we have to TRY to find things wrong with Christian beliefs. Atheists have very different beliefs that Christians, so for any given question about life, creation, the universe, eternity, values, morals and so on, our answers are likely to be different, and we're going to see what's wrong with Christian beliefs with no trying or effort at all. (Likewise, Christians will instantly see our beliefs as wrong because they contradict their beliefs.)

No, I don't think atheists hate Christians for no apparent reason. When atheists hate Chistians, it's usually hatred toward individuals and fundamentalist sects that insist on proselytizing their beliefs and pushing them into the school system. Atheists don't hate Christians just because they're Christian. It's because *some* Christians get in our faces with their beliefs.

  7. Why do so called "Christians" (always) find something wrong with everything Atheists do, think, believe, etc?

i don't get it.it's like you always SEEM to HATE Atheists for no apparent reason...

    It works both ways.

  8. atheists just like truth. they like to swallow the truth. they dont want to spit out scientific truth. they want hard truth, they want truth to come. dont hate.peace

  9. There are flaws in the argument for believing in christianity.  I don't hate christians as such.  I just wish they would 'snap out of it'.  It's like they were hypnotised from birth to believe the unbelievable.

Beliefs are at best provisional and we must be prepared to change our beliefs in the light of new evidence.  The trouble is some prefer to ignore the evidence because they have made an emotional attachment to their beliefs.

    This is called denial.

  10. Not reporting you, don't worry...

However, I do disagree with your statement. I'm an atheist, and in real life I do not try to find "something wrong in everything" about christians at all! In fact, most of my friends are christian. As long as they accept me and don't try to convert me, I have no problem with their beliefs whatsoever. I respect people completely irregardless of faith.

But here on R&S, the situation is slightly different. I try no to hate on christians directly, but this place IS slightly similar to a war zone after all.. We come here to argue, let's just realize it. But we also come here to make friends and respect each other, and I think it is quite a beautiful thing when that happens.

Even though I do not try to find faults with christians while on R&S, I'll admit that I do indeed try to find faults with christianity as a religion. Why, you ask..? Because I am here to debate, simply. You guys attack atheists just as much. But it is all okay, I just shrug it off no matter what. Please don't think that I hate you. At times, I can be quite sarcastic and cynical, but I really have nothing against you guys. Okay..? ;-)

  11. My husband is a Catholic and I'm an atheist. We don't fight, but we have some great 'deep and meaningfuls'.

    I don't hate Christians.

I do have an issue with proselytizing, though.

Discussions between willing participants - great.

Actively trying to convert others - bad.

I agree that both Christians and atheists can be aggressive in pursuit of their own truth.

Be tolerant of the beliefs of others, even if you think they are deluded.

  12. I don't discriminate......I'm an Equal Opportunity Offender.......

  13. I think you will find it works both ways. Before I came on this forum, i had no idea that so many christians were so full of hate.

  14. *homophobia

*constant intervention with what society should/should not do

    *pedophile problems

*trying to put creationism in public schools

    *bombing of abortion clinics

  15. Thank you, I was just gonna say...don't generalize atheists into being all the same.

I'm an atheist but I agree, some Christians ask sincere questions on here and get hateful answers. Just don't take it to heart. For them it's just fun...read between the lines and I'm sure you'll see some good answers in there as well.

    Not all atheists are haters.

  16. Maybe it is your perception, huh?

  17. Satan tried Jesus, so if you live for Jesus you to will be persucted.

Atheist is just man made like they claim our Bible is. God loves them just the same!

  18. My Atheist husband married me, a Christian Catholic. So, not all Atheists are completely intolerant! Oh Yes! He likes to argue. but he has to ask himself "Is this worth arguing over? Can this issue be resolved?" The answer is that it can not be resolved. Neither of the two of us has had a near death experience to come back and talk about it... so... We just ... go on with our lives because we both love each other and want to be married... despite our differences, we still have that in common!

Atheists here have to live with the Christians... I heard one Atheist say that even though he does not believe in God, the ultimate outcome of Christianity is important to him. There are a large number of Christians around. If something happens, it is bound to affect him in some way. It must be very frustrating to be an Atheist, to see all the things that are wrong with Christianity and to not be able to correct them! I am not being sarcastic! Half the time, sarcasm goes right over my head!

  19. So burning someone alive isn't something to be interested ?

Why shouldn't I go against something that people believe in thats illogical. I don't hate Christians though.

There's more wrong than right in the bible.

  20. Not believing in religion doesn't equate to not understanding it.

I don't think most atheists do hate christians, some may hate Christianity but that's not the same thing. We disagree with the religion, but not necessarily all aspects of it, a question like this can't really be answered because it is a generalization. I'm sure there must be some people who hate this religion, maybe all religions, but there are very few who hate the individuals who practice them, that just wouldn't be logical, because that too would be generalizing which is an empty headed exercise:)

  21. Because its nonsense. Its an insult to humanity.

It has done nothing but cause problems throughout history.. people behave in CRAZY ways due to religion (wbc, 9-11) religion advocates homophobia and narrow mindedness. Children die because thier parents e rely on prayer rather than medicine, it hinders the scientific community.

Religion also affects society, politics and the law.

The bible encourages, slavery, rape, mysoginists and murder... i dont see why christians dont acknowledge this.

You can deny it all you want, but if there was no religion, the world would be a better place.

  22. I don't hate anyone. Hate only breeds more hate.

I have great friends who are Christians. I care very much for them. Some religious people do annoy me, but only the ones that try to push their beliefs on me or give me you are going to burn in h**l for eternity stuff.

  23. Because Christianity is first alphabetically in the desert dogmas (Christianity,Island, and Judaism)

We don't "try" to find a wrong side, Christianity just happens to be on the wrong "side" and point it out.

Yes, being weird is a reason to be hated. It always has been it always will be. Doesn't make it right, but that's the way it is.

Some Atheists hate some Christians, because some Christians try to force their faith on most atheists.

  24. Not all Atheists are like that, so please stop generalizing.

Similarly, why do many Christians think it's okay to force their religion onto our bodies and into our lives? Wouldn't you fight against people who are trying to rule your life?

  25. I don't look for bad in christians, I only point out the logical and social fallacies in the doctrine they believe in, and that a few try to force on others.

  26. Isn't the basic tenet of all religions and people to do unto ohers, etc? You don't have to be a christian, muslim, atheist or wicca to appreciate this.
