Athenian looking solid in E B F Fillies´ Handicap (Div I), Cheworee favourite for Div II at Newmarket
Athenian was quite fascinating in her last two appearances and has a good chance of completing her hat-trick in the Countryside Alliance British Stallion Studs E B F Fillies´ Handicap (Div I), taking place at Newmarket on Friday, June 8th. According
to the plan, the class-4 meeting will be kicked off at 14:10 (GMT).
After enjoying success at Kempton, Athenian continued her good run and sealed an emphatic win at Chepstow. The 3-year-old was not as impressive in her last outing as she had been at Kempton and despite the fact that she has to defy a double penalty now,
one cannot overlook her chances for the top prize.
After two consecutive triumphs, Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s trainee is full of confidence, thus she is highly likely to finish first on the podium in the 6f event, which holds a cash prize worth £4,528.
Among her opponents are: Isola Verde, Place In My Heart, Charlotte Rosina, Brick Tops, Tip Top Gorgeous, Besito, I´m So Glad and Bahama Spirit.
Isola Verde was triumphant on her debut at Redcar last month, but cannot be trusted blindly today. Newmarket’s surface is far harder than Redcar and therefore, the James Fanshawe-trained is going to struggle today.
Athenian is likely to have a trouble-free outing, if she delivers her one hundred percent on Newmarket’s good ground.
Countryside Alliance British Stallion Studs E B F Fillies´ Handicap (Div II) is also scheduled to be held at Newmarket today. Among the confirmed entries for the £4,528 event are: Cheworee, Lollina Paulina, Red Larkspur, Bella Ophelia, Imelda Mayhem, Princess
Of Orange, Symphony Time and Sweet Ovation.
Red Larkspur beat a few of these in her previous trip at Newbury last month, but it does not seem to be her day. Cheworee is full of spirit following a tremendous victory at Newbury in late May.
In similar conditions, David Elsworth’s trainee won the Bathwick Tyres Maiden Stakes by four and a half lengths. Since she is in good shape at the moment, none of her rivals is expected to stop her from winning today. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
