Athens Bulldog S-GA wins Women’s 4*200m freestyle relay title: Day three – ConocoPhillips Nationals
Athens Bulldog S-GA won the title of Women’s 4*200m freestyle relay on the third day of the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships on Thursday, August 4, in Palo Alto, California. The championship is a seven-day long course meet, taking place at the Stanford University’s Avery Aquatic Center.
Athens Bulldog S-GA occupied the gold medal of the distant freestyle relay event, by submitting a time of 7 minutes and 58.14 seconds. Their swimming squad included Chelsea Nauta, Morgan Scroggy, Shannon Vreeland and Megan Romano, where Nauta was the slowest swimmer in her team, as she completed her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 00.22 seconds.
Scroggy improved her timing a little bit and posted a time of 1 minute and 59.81 seconds. The race was continued in the third leg for Athens Bulldogs by Vreeland, who produced the second fastest time of 1 minute and 59.76 seconds. Romano was the fastest swimmer of her squad, as she ended her swim in a time of 1 minute and 58.35 seconds.
The silver medal was won by the relay team of North Baltimore-MD, who completed their swim in a time of 8 minutes and 00.51 seconds. They were trailed by Stanford Swimming-PC, who settled on the victory stand for third position, by reporting in a time of 8 minutes and 08.25 seconds.
The fourth finest spot of the swim was accomplished by Colorado Stars-C relay team, who stayed only 0.13 seconds behind the bronze medallist and clocked a time of 8 minutes and 08.38 seconds. Moments later, Tucson Ford Deal-AZ claimed the fifth fastest finish, by posting a time of 8 minutes and 08.84 seconds.
They were followed by California Aquatic-PC and Palo Alto Stanford-PC, who earned the sixth and seventh finest spots, with timings of 8:10.17 and 8:10.38 minutes, respectively. Trojan Swim Club-CA was the eighth fastest team to conclude their relay swim, as they produced a time of 8 minutes and 10.46 seconds.
The arena appreciated the swims of all relay teams, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
