Athens - how to get from airport to Acropolis?

You could either take a taxi or Metro.  In case you decide for the metro:  there is the suburban (from the airport  get off at Doukissis Plakentias, connect with the Line 3.  You go all the way to Syntagma and you hop into Line 2 to Acropolis) or the metro from the Airport Line 2  to Syntagma and then to Acropolis. (Both the metro & the suburban go to /from the airport,  the money will be the same. It is much simplier of course with the metro but the suburbian is more frequentrly scheduled) .  Have a look at the map of the metro /suburban routs:    http://www.ametro.gr/

JJ, the answers are all correct....but my question to you is.......Why would u go from the airport, directly to the Acropolis?  You planning to go with all  your luggage?????

free3yourmind said it very correctly! Either way it should take you about 1 hour in total. Personally I prefer the bus, because it is cheaper and you take it right outside the airport door, you don't need to walk at all.

Using public transportation there are 2 options:

1) metro ( Blue Line ), when you arrive to SYNTAGMA station you have to change line and take the red ( direction to Ag.Dimitrios ) in the next stop you are in Acropolis

2) by bus: from the airport outisde the arrival terminal take the bus X95 and get off at the last stop ( SYNTAGMA ). from there you can walk in about 10-15 min to acropolis or take the metro red line.

Note that the bus operate 24hours but metro until midnight
