hi guys. for those who know a lot about sports, weightlifting and strength training, i need some help here. would really appreciate it. im new. this is the question. what do u think of a man who weighs 170lbs/77kg and benchpress 156lbs/71kg 25 times in a row. dont compare this with all the huge bodybuilders or hardcore powerlifters. of course they can do more if they're way bigger than me. im asking your opinions on the achievement of benching 156lbs/71kg 25 times in a row for a man who weighs 170lbs/77kg. what do u think? and thats my fist time benching. only did various styles of push up before. so what do u think of it? a 170lbs/77kg man benching 156lbs/71kg 25 times in a row. n how much do u think i can max out? one rep max. thanks.

  1. Thats actually pretty good for your first time. It's considered "good" if you can do more than your bodyweight. If you want to lift more weight though, you need to do a LOT less reps and heavy weight. Try 4-6 reps with the heaviest weight you can do it with. I mean really straining by the third rep and neeeding a little help to force out another few. Dont doubt yourself and think big. How much is your one rep max? Well, go to the gym and find out!

  2. Sounds like you are doing quite well.  Anything approaching your body weight is excellent.  You are likely in quite good shape.  Keep up the good work.  If you go to the gym and just keep pressing that weight beyond the current 25 reps you will know your max.  If this appears relatively easy you may want to increase the weight and reduce the number of reps.  Who know you may be able to bench press your own weight even once.  Just keep working at as i would love to see your final results.

  3. For beginners it's usually a pleasure when they get to the point where they can bench their bodyweight.  You are not too far from that.  You should reach that weight fairly soon.

You are off to a good start and it sounds like you are already decently in shape (at least as far as chest is concerned).

Keep on it and you will see some good results I'm thinkin.

And I have no idea what you could max out in one rep.  Try it.  Make sure you got a spotter.
