  1. Ativan comes in a pill form that you swallow, and also it comes in a sublingual tablet. The sublingual tablet is made for putting under your tongue, but you can put the regular tablet under your tongue as well. The benefit you get by putting them under your tongue is that it will kick in faster and you will get a more potent effect versus swallowing it. If you are swallowing the manufacture suggests taking it on an empty stomach and drink a big glass of water with it to get the best effect.

  2. You need to contact your doctor.

By passing out, do you mean fall asleep or do you literally pass out?

Some medications are assigned as sublingual, but I have never heard of ativan as one.

Call your doctor, even if it's the weekend. A message will be sent and, if considered serious, the doctor will contact you.

Other options: call an E.R. or your pharmacy for input.

    Hope this helps.
