Atlanta Braves Andrelton Simmons hopeful of recovery from injury before Spring Training-MLB Update
Shortstop for Atlanta Braves, Andrelton Simmons, is fairly optimistic to play for the team during the upcoming season.
His expedition in the last season was derailed by an injury, from which he is still recovering.
When Simmons was questioned about the state of his hand, he expressed great hope for being ready for the competitive baseball soon.
If Simmons gets over the injury completely, he can have a special 2013 season ahead.
Signs of his effectiveness at shortstop were visible in the last season, when he was outstanding with regard to making plays in the field.
He is young and looking for a season without interruption. Once he earns opportunities throughout the year, he can unleash his best shows at the plate.
After a third baseman for Atlanta, Chipper Jones retired, the club needs an excellent offensive player.
Otherwise, the void created by the absence of Jones can turn out to be the cause of their demise next year.
The Braves cannot afford to go in the 2013 season, without addressing pressing needs of their offence.
Fortunately for the team, their emerging shortstop has all the characteristics of being an above average offensive player.
It is reflected from the .289 batting average that he maintained during the last season.
Though the sample to judge his credentials is small, what he showed during those fixtures certainly provides a glimpse of his great potential.
Talking about his hand, Simmons is of the view that he is participating in slight work outs and trying to be in touch.
He is looking forward to play in Spring Training and put up incredible shows at the plate there.
“My hand has been feeling pretty good while I've been working out with some of the other pro guys down here in Curacao. I'm hoping it will be 100 percent by the start of Spring Training,” Simmons said.
Once he plays a few competitive games, it will be easier for the management to judge as to where he stands in terms of returning to the major league.
It will be interesting to see how he starts in Spring Training and impresses officials of the club for being given opportunities.
