Atlanta Braves Frank Wren satisfied with overall offseason accomplishments-MLB Update
General Manager for Atlanta Braves, Frank Wren feels he has completed the bulk of the offseason tasks. He is of the view that roster changes that were required have been made.
So far the biggest job that the GM has completed is signing B.J. Upton from the free agent market.
The outfield was an area where the Braves lacked options, especially after Michael Bourn tested the free agency.
Ever since the beginning of the offseason, the Braves kept their focus on resolving issues in this department.
Wren is pleased to have Upton included in the team and eliminated a potential loophole in the side. However, he is not growing complacent. He continues his efforts to make sure the team enter the 2013 season with all the weak-links removed.
The Braves have performed extremely well in the last two seasons. Although during 2011 they collapsed in September after posting an incredible win-loss record until then, the overall expedition could not be called a failure.
Then in 2012, they qualified for the post-season, indicating a sharp improvement from the previous season.
The upward going trend of the Braves suggests they are going to boost their win-loss record even further from now onward.
Wren is mindful of the phase of progress the Braves are going through at the moment.
He clearly understands the way his team is moving ahead can result in something incredible achieved during 2013. It can be the journey that ends after the World Series win.
Given the depth in rotation and the kind of offensive players present in the line-up, there is hardly any reason to believe the Braves cannot clinch landmarks.
Their rotation, which is generally not feared much by the oppositions, poses a great challenge for the batters in the National League East Division for the upcoming season.
The likes of Tim Hudson, Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy can throw shut-out games and win matches against strong teams.
The way Beachy led the Braves pitching department in 2012 until sustaining an injury shows that he is going to repeat the same performance ahead.
In short, Wren has many reasons to defend the satisfaction that he has expressed with regard to the preparations for the 2013 season.
