Atlanta Braves’ Fredi Gonzalez denounces hire and fire policy of Jeffrey Loria - MLB Update
Fredi Gonzalez speaks out against the Miami Marlins’ owner Jeffrey Loria as the latter is about to fire manager Ozzie Guillen if the rumours are anything to be believed. Loria is known for firing managers whenever his team puts up a poor win-loss record
in a season.
As this year has been an addition to the series of dismal performances by the Marlins in their history, Loria is prone to taking drastic measures. In this regard, Gonzalez has criticised his lack of confidence in the managers he himself inducts in the first
place.
Throughout the Marlins' history, trading of the players and sacking of the officials have been common. Their pattern of actions has been so predictable over the years that at the end of the current season it is obvious that the speculations about the firing
of Guillen emerge.
Guillen tops the list of officials who will possibly be sacked. However, if he is terminated it will be the continuation of the actions that have been taken against managers of the Marlins in the last four years.
Gonzalez is one of those managers. He was fired back in 2010 following the subpar performance of the team under him. No wonder he takes the opportunity to hit out at Loria. He calls him a kind of owner who has not found even a single person in the world
as a good manager.
Responding to this, Loria says Gonzalez was ousted because the team under him struggled immensely.
“I’m a little surprised because it’s classless, and you can quote me. Especially because he was with us for five years and he was a colossal failure. Not nice. Not nice,” Loria said.
Gonzalez is currently on the brink of leading the Braves into the playoffs. While his success with the Braves continues, he has slammed Loria for not giving proper time to his management for producing results.
“There’s not a manager dead or alive that Jeffrey thinks is good enough. Not Connie Mack, not anyone,” Gonzalez commented on Loria.
Loria has not made any official declaration yet regarding the fate of Guillen. It will be interesting to see whether the words of Gonzalez impact his decision about Guillen.
