Atlanta Braves GM Frank Wren shows optimism to some foreign talent – MLB Update
Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren has recently returned from Dominican Republic where he spent almost four days along with team manager Fredi Gonzalez to evaluate some of the foreign talent they can get to enter into the fresh Major League outing
in 2013.
While a recent report shows that both Braves’ executives are quite happy about their potential trip to Dominican Republic and hoping to add a left fielder and a leadoff hitter. The Braves have been looking to add some more power in the batting line-up but
with shrunk free agency and not enough players to trade, they are not getting any potential chance to bring more talented hitters.
“(Hitting coach) Greg Walker wanted him to continue to work on less rotation in the swing, and I think he’s done that, And we wanted him to get in better shape and he’s well on his way to that as well. He’s slimmed down and it’s noticeable. It’s still a
couple of months before spring training, so I think there’s still more he can do and will do,” Wren said.
He added, “We’re going to keep making calls, and staying engaged with teams that we feel like we might match up with and see if there’s a deal out there that makes sense.”
Both Wren and Gonzalez were very satisfied as they can still count on Braves’ foreign options. Now news is coming in the media that Juan Francisco might be joining the Braves in the next Major League Baseball season. Francisco has some health issues but
Wren also told the media that his personal trainer is working hard with him and if he does come in the side, it will be a healthy sign of Braves itself.
Francisco has recently played with Licey Tigers and played with quite consistently where he hit with an average of .315 along with seven home runs, six doubles in total 29 games. Though Francisco and some other players’ arrival is still not sure but many
believe that Braves’ now will not delay further their offseason potential initiative of bringing some extra fire power in the hitting department.
