Atlanta Braves beat Chicago Cubs 3-1 as Craig Kimbrel records his tenth save - MLB Update

Starter Randall Delgado strikes-out five as the Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 in second game of three-match series at Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois on May 8, 2012.
Craig Kimbrel had his tenth save of the season. By the time he went on the mound, the Braves had two run lead and since it was not sufficient, with little rough up on the mound, he could have blown it.
Credit to goes to him as he was spot on in his scoreless one inning.
Third baseman, Chipper Jones unusually went hitless in the game and so was catcher, Brian McCann. Jones is currently hitting .311/.358/.544.
Second baseman, Dan Uggla was a star performer for the Braves. Single he hit, broke the tie and took the Braves ahead of the Cubs. Michael Bourn and Freddie Freeman completed runs at the back of a hit by Uggla.
"I was just trying to get something in the air towards the middle of the field and it ended up finding a hole," Uggla said. "That's what we needed."
Ryan Dempster started for the Cubs and spent seven innings on the mound.
Although his side lost the game, he did a fairly good job. By striking-out seven and giving up just one run, he kept the hitters struggling to get clean hits.
Since, an offence against which he pitched is among the best in National League East Division, it was not an ordinary performance.
"I just try to execute my pitches and control the innings," he said. "The other stuff you can't worry about. You can only control one thing when you're on the mound and that's trying to put the ball where you want to put it. If you do that, more often than
not, you'll get good results.”
In terms of wins, the Braves have best number, even better than top of the table team, the Washington Nationals.
The Braves have won 19, and lost 12 games so far.
One of the biggest positives coming off in the game for the Braves was an excellent show by their rookie starter Delgado.
This is an area they potentially can have problems in. They will hope that rest of their starters will follow suit in the games ahead.
