Atlanta Braves blanked by Colorado Rockies 0-6 as Tommy Hanson gives up two home runs-MLB Update

Starter Tommy Hanson suffers a loss despite striking-out eight as the Atlanta Braves are blanked by the Colorado Rockies 0-6 at Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia in the second match of the four game series on September 4, 2012.
Braves were outwitted throughout the game as they failed to post even a single run on the scoreboard.
Rockies’ pitchers threw quality innings and did not allow the opposition to experience any run-rampage despite the fact Atlanta possessed some of the most formidable hitters in the season.
Colorado restricted the likes of Chipper Jones and Jason Heyward successfully and rightfully protected their lead in the game.
Rockies used their pitchers intelligently. The combination of starter and relievers worked for them on Tuesday. Immediately after three innings they scratched their starter Drew Pomeranz and brought Carlos Torres on the mound. In the same way they kept changing
pitchers all through the game and did not let the Braves feel comfortable against one hurler.
As far as Atlanta’s pitchers were concerned, Tommy Hanson started and completed little more than five innings. He gave up just two runs and yet he faced the loss. If better run support from the offence was given, he may have won the game.
By the time Hanson left, relievers came in. Far from finishing scoreless innings and disallowing the opposition from substantiating their lead they leaked runs.
Braves’ manager Fredi Gonzalez points out the mistakes the players committed in the seventh and eighth innings. Rockies capitalised on the errors made in these innings by the fielders and strengthened their lead as a result.
"That seventh and eighth inning got away from us a little bit," Fredi Gonzalez said. "A couple wild pitches. We're better than that defensively."
Hanson gives credit to Carlos Gonzalez for striking a hit against the pitch which was not there to be treated like this.
"The 0-2 pitch needed to be buried," Hanson said. "The one to Gonzalez, not so much. He got me. He's a good hitter and ... that's not one of those situations where I'm going to beat myself up over it."
The Braves are capable of bouncing back strongly. They will be looking to win the rest of the matches in the series.
