Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann could be out 4-5 months – MLB Update
Atlanta Braves seven-year veteran catcher Brian McCann is potentially headed for a shoulder surgery that could sideline him from the baseball field for four to five months.
According to some news sources, he has been diagnosed with a frayed muscle and cyst in his right shoulder which needs a potential surgery while it will take four to five months to recover fully.
“We already basically know what is going to happen, what needs to happen, I think it’s going to be (a matter of) how long I’m out for. Could be a couple of months, it could be a little more than that. Could be four or five months, we’ll see what happens.
We’ll find out. I can’t really say right now, but I’m pretty sure surgery,” McCann said and explained the situation with great detail.           
This is also coming in the media that Braves six-time All-Star has hit with a season worst injury in this ongoing Major League Baseball season. Though his recovery time is four-to five months but if something bad happens regarding his recovery, his availability
in the next Spring Training is not certain.
Braves general manager Frank Wren also knows how critical his player’s this injury is as he recently said in the media, “I think we first have to determine if surgery is necessary—that hasn’t been determined yet, I think there will be some testing to determine
if surgery is necessary, from what we know.”
Braves GM later also explained in the media that still team doctors are looking deep into McCann’s situation. He stated that surgery is needed but first medical experts will make sure regarding a frayed muscle and cyst in his right shoulder.
McCann is a talented and experienced player with great abilities of hitting who has also been playing in the Braves for a quite some time now. He finished this season with .230 hitting average along with 20 homers, 67 RBIs and .300 OBP.
Overall his career stat of hitting .279 along with 156 homers, 604 RBIs and .351 OBP also makes him a very good player in the Braves’ roster.
