Atlanta Braves humiliate Miami Marlins 11-0 as Tim Hudson throws a gem - MLB Update
Tim Hudson throws a shut-out game as the Atlanta Braves humiliate the Miami Marlins 11-0, in first game of the three match series at Marlins Park, Miami, FL on June 5, 2012.
A display of blunt dominance was seen at the Marlins new ballpark. The Marlins, in front of the home crowd, had to no place to hide against the onslaught launched by the Braves.
While the Marlins did not put up any resistance, the Braves showed little mercy and kept running over them.
With 16 hits, the Braves refreshed memories of on-plate fireworks, they enjoyed in the first month of 2012 regular season.
It was one of those rare games when the Braves had assaulted an opponent to such an extent, without third-baseman Chipper Jones in the line-up.
Hudson will be relieved now, after he has been unable to give a glimpse of the credentials he is actually known for in all the games he has played so far in the season. This has also rung alarm bells for other teams, who will be coming across an actual mastery
of Hudson now.
Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen just hopes, such a disgusting performance does not take a toll on the players’ mind and wants to move forward.
"A game like that, you just have to turn the page and be ready for tomorrow," Ozzie Guillen said.
Witnessing just five hits in the game was great embarrassment for the manager. In light of the fact, the Marlins went through an incredible last month and broke many records, Tuesday was an exception.
It was a sudden collapse of their offence. Neither the third-baseman Hanley Ramirez nor right fielder Giancarlo Stanton looked in form, they have maintained since last month.
Ramirez went hitless in three at-bats. Stanton did manage one hit in three at-bats. It was just not adequate as the Braves routed them from the other end.
From the Braves’ side, a rejuvenated Dan Uggla wreaked the bulk of the damage. Continuing from a terrific performance in the last couple of games, second baseman connected four hits in five at-bats and supplied five RBIs. With this, his on-base-percentage
jumped to .384.
This is the best time the Braves can re-launch themselves in the season. By carrying the momentum in forthcoming games, the Braves can improve their standing on National League East Division table.
