Atlanta Braves lose 2-3 to New York Yankees as Tim Hudson gives up runs - MLB Update
Starter Tim Hudson is unable to block runs despite striking-out eight as he costs the Atlanta Braves a 2-3 defeat against the New York Yankees on June 13, 2012 in third game of the three match series.
Hudson was disheartened with the way they have let Yankees beat them in the whole series.
"It was frustrating, this series," Hudson said. "Last night I thought we were on the verge of breaking it open big all night, and that didn't happen. And tonight, we got the big homer from McCann and then I let them get back in it with a homer."
It seems Yankees have occupied the proceedings. Whenever in the game, fate of the game demands them to step up and bring hits; they oblige and pull off win.
What happened in the last game can be a case in point. How they woke up when it mattered the most on Tuesday and turned table on Braves, Wednesday was not that different.
Being trailed by one run before the sixth, the Yankees broke into the game in top of the sixth and kept Braves at bay from winning.
Hudson threw a tremendous spell of six innings, rough-up in the sixth apart. Tightening things for Yankees, who are known for slamming big hits, was not a mediocre performance. With better run-support from offence, he may have registered the victory.
Unlike starter, relievers with Atlanta were scoreless. Therefore, one may imagine, if Hudson was scratched one inning before, win may have been fetched.
Relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel came to do the closing job. As he struck-out three, he went scoreless. However, his effort turned out futile as no support from the offence was forthcoming.
Braves’ manager Fredi Gonzalez rued the chances being missed in the game. In-particular, he was cynical of their inability to avoid bases-loaded situations.
"We just couldn't get anybody in from third base," Fredi Gonzalez said. "I think we left a guy on base every inning. It's tough to pitch that way."
Gonzalez will be aware of the task at-hand and how to take things forward from now onward. He will be looking to see the Braves start winning games and re-write their fate in the season.
