Atlanta Braves lose 3-4 to Cincinnati Reds as Brandon Beachy concedes three home-runs - MLB

Starter Brandon Beachy allows three home-runs and the Atlanta Braves lose to Cincinnati Reds 3-4 on May 22, 2012 in second game of the four match series at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Two defeats in a row have put the Braves under pressure. The Reds, while building on their winning momentum, kept the Braves at bay from bouncing back. It will take something out of an ordinary for the Braves to win their next two games and level the series.
Poor performance of their offence apart, what was discouraging for the Braves was reversal of Brandon Beachy within one game.
Starter who threw shut-out game in previous outing and went on to invoke debate abound being a potential ace for the Braves was humiliated on Tuesday.
Beachy stood for seven innings on the mound and allowed four runs. The fact he stayed for seven innings reflect how far the manager went, in the hope of drawing a kind of performance he put up last time.
Third baseman Chipper Jones missed out again and gave support to a fallacy that whenever he sits out the Braves are defeated.
Only six hits came off from the Braves in 33 at-bats, which signal an out-and-out collapse of their line-up.
Only relievers were the ones the Braves will be happy about after the game.
Centre fielder Michael Bourn struck a homer in the first inning.
As soon as this happened, one was expecting that the Braves are going to launch fireworks of hits, as part of their typical game. However, it proved just a mirage.
Beachy acknowledges that hits on which home-runs came off did not hit the spot he aimed. Thus the batters latched on and made the most of poor throws.
"I'm not going to make the ballpark an excuse for any of those three home runs," said Beachy. "None of the three pitches was where they were supposed to be. Other than those three pitches, I pitched the way I wanted to tonight."
The Braves have lost top position on National League East Division. Fans will be hoping that hibernation of their offence will just be transient and soon it will start becoming the strongest link in their victories.
