Atlanta Braves lose to New York Yankees 4-6 as Jonny Venters allows four runs - MLB Update

Relief pitcher Jonny Venters betrays the Atlanta Braves costing them 4-6 defeat against the New York Yankees on June 12, 2012 in the second game of the three match series at Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia.
Series-deciding match for the Braves has been lost by them. The damage has come from no other place than the one they have been so comfortable with throughout the season. That is their relievers.
All through the season, while their starter has leaked runs, relievers have been stepping up and putting halt to run-sprees being allowed at the moment. Tuesday was an exception.
Starter Mike Minor finished with impressive figures of one run in little more than seven innings. At that stage, victory looked certain for Atlanta.
It was only a matter of few scoreless innings from relievers and the Braves will be levelling the series.
All this mattered little to the Yankees, who, as if were waiting for the right moment to unleash, found Venters an easy prey and fetched victory from him. In a display of blunt dominance, it took only one inning for the Yankees to produce the win.
Yankees went scoreless during the entire game except in the eighth, in which they posted six run.
Venters was frustrated after the game on becoming the cause of failure for Atlanta. Although he was comfortable with his command, quality hits by the batters led to the demise, he stated.
"I made a bad pitch and he crushed it," Venters said. "I have no excuses. I felt great mechanically. I felt great physically. I just fell behind some hitters. ... I threw a pitch right down the middle, 3-2, to one of the best hitters in the game. I feel
bad I let my team down."
Braves’ manager Fredi Gonzalez felt pity on Mike Minor as he went with no-decision, despite putting up a splendid performance.
"I think we pushed (Minor) as far as we could push him, really," Gonzalez said. "And he did a h**l of a job. It's a shame he didn't get the W."
As the series has been lost now, the Braves will be looking for consolation victory in the next game. Winning even the last game will be great for their confidence ahead in the season.
