Atlanta Braves outscore Miami Marlins 7-5 as Tim Hudson wins 15th game - MLB Update
Starter Tim Hudson wins his 15th game as the Atlanta Braves outscore the Miami Marlins 7-5 at Marlins Park, Miami on September 17, 2012 in the first match of the three game series.
Four runs in the first inning provided the Braves a substantial lead in the beginning. Thereafter, Marlins needed to do something spectacular to bounce back and steer their journey toward a triumph. Although they were successful in this regard to some extent,
they were just short of blowing Atlanta’s lead.
Braves remained ahead of the Marlins because following the first inning run-rampage they posted two more runs in the fourth which eventually ensured their success.
Hudson proves lucky once again with regard to earning support from the offence. He leaked runs and yet he clinched the win. It is not the first time that he has been rescued by a splendid show from the batters.
Hudson finished five innings and gave up four runs. He yielded 10 hits in the game which shows that he was far from his best on Monday.
Martin Prado played as third baseman and was prolific at the plate as he struck four hits in four at-bats. He added two RBIs. Other than him, Dan Uggla produced useful hits and helped the team in putting sufficient number of runs on the scoreboard.
Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen is happy with the fact that they kept fighting throughout the match and did not let the Braves take them for granted.
"We battled. We make this game pretty fun," Ozzie Guillen said. "We went out and didn't give up. We battled back against good pitching. We just had one bad inning with a bad pitch to Uggla."
Uggla talks about the three-run homer he slammed in the game. The fans were fascinated by his aggressive show at the plate.
"The fans here, I had a great relationship with them," Uggla said. "I felt like they liked the way I played, enjoyed and appreciated the way I played down here. It's always fun to come back and play in front of them."
The Braves have just finished completing the sweep of the Washington Nationals. As they follow it with another victory against the Marlins, momentum will be on their side. They are ideally poised to end up the current series by winning all three matches.
