Atlanta Braves shutout San Diego Padres 6-0 as Tim Hudson throws scoreless innings - MLB Update
The Atlanta Braves’ starter Tim Hudson throws little more than six innings to help the team win 6-0 against the San Diego Padres at Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia on August 14, 2012 in the second game of the four match series.
The Padres were not allowed to score even a single run throughout the game. The Braves’ pitchers, while they are generally prone to leaking runs were impeccable on Tuesday.
The quality throws by them were rightly supported by the offence, which provided reasonable run support. As a result, the Braves grabbed an easy victory.
Offensively, Atlanta brought 10 hits in the match. At the start, the Braves were slow in making runs.
After adding one run in the first, they were scoreless until the end of the fourth inning. However, in the fifth, sixth and the seventh inning, they managed to take their lead to a level from where bouncing back for the Padres was not easy.
Meanwhile, Hudson recorded his twelfth win in the season on Tuesday. He did not give up in the match.
Commenting on the position that the Braves enjoy on the table and the number of games that they are behind the top-ranked the Washington Nationals, Hudson discussed.
"It's not a huge focus, but I would lie to you if I told you I did not keep up with what they're doing," Hudson said. "I keep up with the wild-card teams, as well."
Braves’ second baseman Dan Uggla begins hitting consistently after experiencing a slight decline in performance earlier. He hammered a home-run in the game.
His return to the form is a healthy sign for the team as the Braves prepare for crucial games ahead in the season.
Meanwhile, Uggla has praised the way Hudson has been finding wins for the team in the season.
"There's no one else I'd rather have out there than Huddy," Uggla said. "Anytime we put him out there in a situation where we need a win, he's going to come through."
There are two games remaining in the series. Therefore, keeping the momentum afloat is extremely important for Atlanta. They will be looking forward to the replication of the performance on Tuesday in the upcoming games.
