Atlanta Braves’ starter Brandon Beachy may have surgery after partial ligament tear - MLB Update
By the time the Atlanta Braves’ starter Brandon Beachy was pulled from the mound, last thing the management had wanted was ligament tear on his elbow. Similarly, Beachy was hoping that it will be just bone spurs and will heal quickly. Unfortunately, this
is not the case and as per the reports, he has a partial ligament tear.
In order to get second opinion, Beachy will be visiting Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday. After the meeting, decision about whether he will go through surgery will be taken. In-case, the surgery is announced; his stint in the season will almost come to an
end.
As a pitcher, the Braves depend heavily on Beachy. The fact he is one of the few pitchers with the club who can throw complete games enhances his significance to the team.
Beachy was heading to a dream season, if the current performance is anything to go by. From the way he has maintained the lowest ERA in the season, in the upcoming games he had to be more effective and thus had to become a strong link in the success of the
Braves.
Right now situation is not rosy for the club. A dilemma that whether Beachy should be sent for surgery or any hasty attempt be made to bring him back confronts the manager, Fredi Gonzalez.
If they go for the latter, they run the fear of aggravating his injury and thus putting his career at stake. Similarly, by choosing the former, they will be short of a pitcher who stands for excellence and therefore matters significantly to their prospects
in the season.
The club will intend to hear positives from doctors and will be keen to believe that Brandon can play without surgery and that partial ligament tear is of a minor nature.
As per the experts, saner option will be that a proper time be given to the matter.
Even if there is a slightest chance of the injury getting worse if the surgery is not applied, the Braves will not take risk and will most probably allow Beachy to take his time before making a comeback.
