Atlanta Braves win 6-2 against Cincinnati Reds as Tim Hudson throws seven innings - MLB Update
Catcher Brian McCann hits a homer in the second inning and the Atlanta Braves defeat Cincinnati Reds 6-2 at Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia in second game of the two match series on May 15, 2012.
Tim Hudson gave a slight glimpse of his pedigree as a starter. He went on to throw seven innings, expecting him to pitch shut-out games ahead in the season is not wrong.
Despite nine hits and two runs Hudson gave up, his control was not declining even after throwing great number of pitches. It is something that spells positives for the Braves.
Relievers did a great job. Few dead rubber hits apart, on no occasion they succumbed to belligerency of the hitters.
One of the surprises coming off in the game was a gigantic home-run by McCann. This was due to the fact that in the last few games he was being outwitted by pitchers cheaply. Home-run from his bat was just unexpected in this context.
The game saw the Braves posting a lead right in beginning. Helped largely by Martin Prado, Chipper Jones and Dan Uggla, the Braves added four runs in the third. It was the point that gave the Braves leeway to keep building on their lead.
McCann had two hits in three at-bats. Commenting on the Braves’ offence, he heaped praise on it, in light of an amount of runs it has helped the club accumulate.
"We're a good offense," said McCann. "Everybody battles every at-bat. Tonight was no different."
One of the worst things clubs deal with sometimes is having their starters leak so many runs at the start. Exactly the same happened with the Reds.
Their starter Johnny Cueto was hammered eight hits in just four innings. While striking out just two, he conceded six runs.
As he was withdrawn immediately, relievers helped the Reds escape humiliation, which was to result if runs will be coming at the same rate. Since relievers did not give up any run, the Reds will be repenting on why they did not call their starter back earlier.

Season continues providing the Braves their ideal moments. The Braves will be looking to keep their momentum afloat until the end of the season.
