Lindsey Harding racks up 12 of her 20 points in the final stanza to help Atlanta Dream complete a turnaround against Indiana Fever...
On Wednesday night at the Philips Arena, Lindsey Harding posted 20 points as she helped Atlanta Dream pull of a 71-64 victory over Indiana Fever. Angel McCoughtry came off the bench to contribute 15 points while Tiffany Hayes and
Sancho Lyttle chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively.
It was an impressive victory from Atlanta’s point of view as they had been trailing for the first three quarters of the ball game. However, Harding came into her own in the final period by scoring 12 of her total points in the
stanza as she helped Atlanta in turning a 4 point deficit to a game winning performance.
"When there is adversity, the best thing is to come together,'' said Harding. "We're coming together as a team to compete for a championship.''
Indiana behind Katie Douglas’s impressive long range shooting got off to a great start to the game. Douglas made 5 three pointers on her way to 23 points. She helped the Fever in building a 32-21 lead in the final stages of the
second quarter. However, Atlanta showed strong resolve to end the half on a 8-0 run and went into the break only trailing by 3 points.
A similar kind of script was played out in the third quarter as Indiana controlled the momentum as Douglas made back to back threes to help her team stay ahead in the game.
At the other end, the whole of Atlanta team were struggling to find their rhythm from distance as they shot the ball 1 0f 16 from beyond the arc in the game.
By the close of three quarters, Atlanta, were trailing 52-48.
Atlanta came back strong in the fourth quarter courtesy of Harding’s impressive showing as they opened up with a 6-2 run. They used another 8-2 run to close out the game on their way to a 7 point victory.
Besides Douglas, other players making strong contributions for Indiana included Tamika Catchings who had 13 points and 9 rebounds to her name while Erlana Larkins added 12 of her own.
